The Gastroenterology Group is the leading gastroenterology practice in Northeast Ohio and is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. The experienced board-certified gastroenterologists provide high-quality digestive care in their Akron, Ohio office, with patient satisfaction scores constantly ranking at 95% or higher.
The Gastroenterology Group conducts procedures at The Digestive Health Center, the only ambulatory surgical center accredited by The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). Since 2006, the practice has met or exceeded quality measures set forth by the American College of Gastroenterology and ASGE.
Disorders treated at The Gastroenterology Group include abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, acid reflux, and the full spectrum of other gastrointestinal problems.
In addition to their broad gastrointestinal disease education and training, The Gastroenterology Group physicians also have specialized training in liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, capsule endoscopy, Celiac disease, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
The Gastroenterology Group uses the latest technology to give their patients easy access to the care they need and positive experiences with their physicians.
The practice hosts an Open Access Program, making colon cancer screening more accessible. Healthy adults who don’t have troublesome gastrointestinal symptoms can book a colonoscopy without an office visit through the Open Access Program. This program makes colon cancer screening simple, and it saves lives.
In 2012, The Digestive Health Center became the first surgery center in the region to join the GI Quality Improvement Consortium (GIQUIC). This is where The Gastroenterology Group performs many of their procedures. GIQUIC is a quality benchmarking registry that allows gastroenterologists to submit colonoscopies and EGD quality measure data to participate in quality improvement and value-based care programs.
The Gastroenterology Group physicians measure far above the national benchmark, with the standard for adenoma detection rates being 25% and their detection rate being 47%. The physicians also have very high cecal intubation rates (the percentage of time gastroenterologists examine the entire colon) to ensure the examination is complete and thorough. The national benchmark is 90%; The Gastroenterology Group scored 98%.
The practice accepts most insurances and invites new and established patients to call or schedule an appointment online.
