Rheum Without Walls is principally a telemedicine specialty platform for rheumatology and chronic pain management with a selective “brick and mortar” presence. Farah Salahuddin, MD, leads the team, which serves adults of all ages in Northern California, including Santa Cruz County, Monterey County, Watsonville, Salinas, Carmel by the Sea, Los Gatos, San Jose, Santa Clara, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Los Gatos, San Francisco, and greater bay area. 

Through the era of digital democratization spurred on by the global pandemic, health information exchanges, and the capability to monitor patients remotely, telemedicine platforms are enabling efficiencies in health care delivery systems that previously were the domains of larger health care systems.

The Rheum Without Walls team does not believe that healthcare is a zero-sum game. A game where patients and providers are caught between the duopoly of insurance companies and hospital systems in an epic battle to control not only more patient lives or members, but also to bring more doctors under their employment. This ultimately creates ‘care vacuums' and leads to provider burnout. 

Rheum Without Walls sees a different picture, with opportunities emerging through crevices of the coronavirus pandemic. The team also takes a “quadruple aim” of improving their patients’ experience of care; improving the health of populations; reducing the per capita cost of health care; and guarding against provider burnout.
