Karen was born and raised in San Diego, California. She attended Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona, for her undergraduate education before pursuing her postgraduate studies at Azusa Pacific University. She served as a mentor at the National University in San Diego, preparing nursing students for their careers in health care.
