At Elora Health and Wellness, board-certified family nurse practitioner Dr. Shakiraye Rookwood, DNP, FNP-BC, provides comprehensive primary care for residents in the Rockville Centre neighborhood of Long Island and throughout New York City.

Elora Health and Wellness’ vision is to provide access to patient centered quality care to the community and facilitate a collaborative environment between patient and provider.

In February 2023, Dr. Rookwood opened Elora Health and Wellness to provide the best evidence-based and patient-centered care for people in and around Long Island. 

At Elora Health and Wellness, Dr. Rookwood works with patients collaboratively to develop treatment plans that encourage informed healthcare decision-making. 

She takes a holistic and personalized treatment approach with patients, incorporating healthy lifestyle changes and routine preventive screenings. Dr. Rookwood also prescribes medications but prefers alternatives when possible.

As a doctorally prepared nurse practitioner, Dr. Rookwood has the knowledge and expertise to treat various acute and chronic health problems, including asthma, urinary tract infections, flu, diabetes, and hypertension (high blood pressure).

Patients visit Elora Health and Wellness for various medical services, including annual exams, Department of Transportation (DOT) physicals, and STD testing. Dr. Rookwood also provides women’s health services that include Pap smears, breast exams, and referrals for mammograms and ultrasounds.

Dr.Rookwood is a compassionate and altruistic provider. She knows there are many barriers to achieving good health, and she takes her professional responsibility seriously. Dr.Rookwood's focus on collaborative care and patient education ensures each individual receives the help they need to thrive.
