Brett Sachs, DPM, FACFAS is a gifted and compassionate foot and ankle surgeon practicing at Rocky Mountain Foot and Ankle Center in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. After working in private practice for four years, Dr. Sachs joined Rocky Mountain Foot & Ankle Center in 2005. He is also part owner of the practice.
Besides the common foot and ankle complaints that bring patients to the practice – like ingrown toenails and heel pain – Dr. Sachs has extensive training and experience in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, total ankle replacement, arthroscopy, trauma, sports medicine, and regenerative medicine. Dr. Sachs is board certified in foot surgery as well as reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery.
Dr. Sachs earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology at the University of Maryland and went on to complete his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in 1998. He then served a three-year podiatric surgical residency at Highlands/Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver, followed by an orthopedic trauma residency at Kaiser Permanente in San Francisco in 2001. Dr. Sachs is a leader in his community and currently serves as faculty for the Highlands-Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency Program. He has held various academic appointments for the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. Dr. Sachs is a nationally recognized lecturer and instructor of surgical skills workshops. Dr. Sachs has authored textbook chapters in trauma, ankle arthroscopy, and surgery in addition to several publications in peer reviewed clinical and surgical research journals, and expert opinion papers. He has a special interest in reconstructive surgery, the treatment of foot and ankle injuries, and cartilage restoration science. Dr. Sachs is also a manuscript peer reviewer for the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery. Marc Eustaquio is a podiatric surgeon originally from Chicago. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned his Podiatric medical degree from Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine. Following residency training at Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago, he have been practicing podiatric medicine and surgery for 15 years in Denver. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, cycling, and spending time with his two dogs.
Matthew Paden, DPM, FACFAS not only serves patients from in and around Wheat Ridge, Colorado at Rocky Mountain Foot and Ankle Center; he’s also the president of the practice. Double board-certified in foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery, Dr. Paden offers a comprehensive range of podiatric services ranging from general treatments for conditions like hammertoes, ingrown toenails, and bunions to diabetic foot care and reconstructive and elective foot and ankle surgeries.
Dr. Paden has been practicing podiatric medicine for almost 30 years. He studied biology and human anatomy at the University of Maryland before completing his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine at the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco. He served a foot and ankle surgical residency at Vencor Hospital -- now known as Highlands/Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center -- in Denver. Dr. Mallett received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio. He then earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine (formerly the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine) in Independence, Ohio.
Afterward, he completed his podiatry residency at Southwest General Health Center in Middleburg Heights, Ohio. He is affiliated with Parker Adventist Hospital and Crown Point Surgery Center, both in Parker, Colorado.
Dr. Mallett enjoys his free time immersed in recreational activities with his family and friends. Together with his wife and two children, Dr. Mallett enjoys hiking, biking, skiing, backpacking, and playing games. At the end of 2020, I retired from the clinical practice of podiatry.
After graduating for the University of Michigan in 1978 I began my training at the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine in Downtown Chicago. I knew even then that I wanted to live in Colorado. I can recall the drive from Chicago to Denver on June 30, 1982 to begin my residency and career in podiatric medicine. Since then, I have been involved in every aspect of the profession from state board member, medical legal expert, national residency site visit reviewer, board certification proctor, surgery teacher and lecturer, and residency director for the Presbyterian/St. Lukes surgical residency program in Denver. I am proud to have helped train over ninety-five residents become excellent doctors and surgeons.
Ralph Waldo Emerson said that it’s “not the destination, it’s the journey” that counts in one’s life. It’s been a great journey, and now that I have reached a destination in my career, I am ready for the next journey.
Colorado is such a wonderful place to live and raise a family. I plan to continue skiing, golfing, hiking and camping, raising a puppy, gardening, playing music, and especially spending time with my new grandchildren. And of course, enjoying the tranquility that abounds in this great place. I have worked with many fine people these past thirty-eight years, none finer that Drs. Herzog and Carrington. They are both skilled and compassionate physicians. They had great training. Leaving you in their excellent hands gives me great serenity. Stay healthy and enjoy your journey.
