Born and raised in Fullerton, California, Dr. Kathan Shah's journey into the medical field was influenced by a deep interest in biological sciences and a desire to help others, particularly in areas that often go overlooked. His passion for podiatry developed through early volunteer experiences and a strong educational foundation. Dr. Shah pursued his education at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. This was followed by his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the California School of Podiatric Medicine in Oakland, CA.
After completing his education, Dr. Shah embarked on his career in healthcare by pursuing a residency at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas in Encinitas, CA, where he received comprehensive surgical training in a wide variety of forefoot, midfoot, and rearfoot pathologies. Over the course of his residency, he participated in over 800 surgical cases and completed rotations in several specialties, including orthopedic surgery, internal medicine, general surgery, radiology, and infectious disease. His clinical training placed a heavy emphasis on biomechanics, further enhancing his ability to provide well-rounded podiatric care.
Dr. Shah specializes in podiatric medicine, with a focus on surgical and non-surgical treatments for foot and ankle conditions. His services include the management of foot and ankle injuries, treatment of chronic conditions such as plantar fasciitis and ingrown toenails, and providing care for underserved populations.
Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Shah enjoys volunteering at clinics that serve the underserved and homeless populations, reflecting his commitment to giving back to the community. Additionally, he has a keen interest in education, having spent several years tutoring high school students in preparation for exams, which was a period of great personal growth for him.
