Dana Brems, DPM, is a foot and ankle surgeon practicing at The Foot and Ankle Sports Institute, which has locations in North Hollywood, Burbank, Glendale, Agoura Hills, and Los Angeles, California.
Dr. Dana is a native of Southern California and completed her bachelor's degree majoring in biology and environmental science at Whittier College before embarking on her journey to become a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona.
After completing the rigorous four-year curriculum, she was selected for a prestigious three-year surgical residency program at MemorialCare Long Beach. During this time, Dr. Dana was exposed to a wide variety of foot and ankle pathologies and underwent extensive training in elective and trauma surgery at this Level 2 trauma center.
Her additional training at the nearby Veterans Affairs hospital emphasized limb preservation and wound care, particularly for patients with diabetes. Dr. Dana has trained with renowned Los Angeles podiatrists and employs innovative cosmetic surgical techniques to minimize scarring and postoperative swelling.
While her expertise includes surgical intervention, she prioritizes non-surgical approaches as the first line of therapy whenever possible. Dr. Dana's guiding philosophy is to treat every patient with the same level of care and compassion she would want for her own family members.
“This was a one-time appointment for me while I was visiting in LA. I have not been able to see a podiatrist nor an orthopedist before 2025 where I normally live. (Anchorage, Alaska) Dr. Brems was very pleasant and personable. I actually spent more time with her medical assistant than herself, who was also very pleasant. I have had a chronic foot issue for ~6 months and I wanted a second opinion about my foot issues. I had brought a one-page history of my issues to discuss; however, she did not use that history to explore possible causes. (Her medical assistant was "entering it into the chart.") Her exam was decent, but not as comprehensive as some subsequent exams I have had since returning home to Alaska. She did give me the first application of shock therapy to my foot, which was something that I was hoping to have in Anchorage. Her discussion of that therapy was very good and the procedure done by her medical assistant was excellent.”
