Dr. Devin Bland graduated from Midwestern University in 2013. After graduation, he completed his surgical residency at the Carl T. Hayden Veterans Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Bland chose to further his surgical skill set by completing one of the premier lower extremity reconstruction fellowships with the American Foundation of Lower Extremity Surgery and Research. Dr. Bland welcomes all forms of pathology. He has a special interest in Charcot Reconstruction, Total Ankle Arthroplasty, Revision Surgery, Pediatrics, and other complex presentations.
Dr. Bland holds multiple board certifications. He currently practices in a multispecialty group in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Bland is adjunct faculty at Midwestern University. He often precepts students and gives back to younger doctors completing their training. Dr. Bland has received many awards and recognition for his surgical ability in treating advanced and revisional pathology. He has authored textbook chapters relating to bone grafting, and continues to publish leading research. One of Dr. Bland’s great joys in life is correcting pathology that has hindered a patient’s enjoyment of activity for an extended period of time or save a limb that otherwise would end in amputation.

Justin Singh, DPM, is a fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon. He serves patients at HealthyU Clinics at our Surprise, Avondale, Glendale, and Chandler, Arizona, clinics.
Dr. Singh grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. After completing his undergraduate degree at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, he completed his podiatric medical education at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago, Illinois.
Dr. Singh completed a reconstructive surgery and deformity correction fellowship where he advanced his training in revisional foot and ankle surgery, complex limb salvage, peripheral nerve surgery, and total ankle replacement.
He also furthered his surgical skillset by obtaining extensive training in microsurgery of the lower limb, local orthoplastic flaps, and external fixation. During his fellowship year, he also served as the team physician for their local high school football team.
Dr. Singh completed a reconstructive foot and ankle surgery residency at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio, where he gained extensive experience in the reconstruction of the foot and ankle, complex diabetic limb salvage, sports medicine, and trauma. He has presented at national conferences and remains current with surgical and non-surgical treatment options.
Dr. Singh is an associate member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association.

James Schmidt, DPM is a highly skilled podiatrist dedicated to serving patients at HealthyU Clinics at our Gilbert, Avondale, and Phoenix, Arizona, clinics. Dr. Schmidt enjoys treating the foot and ankle and all that it entails. He grew to love the Arizona desert while attending Podiatry School at Midwestern University here in Glendale, Arizona. Residency training took Dr. Schmidt to Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he received extensive medical and surgical training in all aspects of the foot and ankle. Tawnya Pfitzer, DPM, is an experienced podiatrist specializing in foot and ankle health for the entire family. Whether she’s treating an infant or an adult, Dr. Pfitzer offers a wide range of services at Desert Canyon Foot & Ankle in Avondale, Arizona, where she’s known for her kind and gentle touch.

Dr. Urooj’s passion for medicine began during his high school years. His love for science took him to the University of North Texas, where in 2014, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and graduated with honors. Then in 2018, he earned his Doctor of Podiatric medicine and surgery degree at Arizona College of Podiatric medicine-Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona.
Upon graduation, Dr. Urooj matched at Carl T. Hayden Veterans Medical Center for his residency training in Foot and Ankle medicine and surgery. At this institution his residency training consisted of inpatient, outpatient, clinical, and surgical experiences. He completed many different rigorous medical and surgical rotations for an overall comprehensive experience. Some notable rotations during his time in the program included internal medicine, infectious diseases, emergency medicine, general surgery, vascular surgery, plastic surgery, and orthopedic surgery. In addition to the above rotations, he was exposed to significant volume of foot and ankle medical and surgical pathologies. He also participated in an extensive volume of foot and ankle surgical care during the entire duration of his residency.
In the last year of his residency program, Dr. Urooj was selected for the chief resident position and was presented a chief resident award upon graduation. He graduated from his residency program in June 2021. He graduated with the highest surgical case volume in his graduating class, which also exceeded the program requirements. During his residency experience, he had multiple published articles on different medical and surgical treatments of foot and ankle.

Samuel W. Cox Jr., DPM, is a third-generation podiatrist who’s been practicing podiatric medicine and foot and ankle surgery since 1992. Dr. Cox is committed to providing the highest-quality medical and surgical care for patients of all ages at Arizona Foot & Ankle Specialists, LLC in Goodyear, Arizona.
