Board-certified podiatrist, Rolando Melendez, DPM brings more than a decade of experience in podiatry and foot and ankle surgery to New York City Ankle & Foot. He serves men, women, and families at two convenient locations in Jackson Heights and Woodside Queens.
Dr. Melendez began his professional education at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in industrial microbiology. He subsequently moved to the United States and enrolled at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, where he earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine.
Following graduation, Dr. Melendez accepted a residency position at Millcreek Community Hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania. As a resident, Dr. Melendez trained extensively in all aspects of foot and ankle medicine and surgery. He also completed a Master’s Degree in medical education at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Before entering private practice, Dr. Melendez also served as a medical volunteer in Latin America on various mission trips.
Dr. Melendez has comprehensive knowledge and specialized training in all aspects of pediatric and adult lower extremity conditions. He specializes in reconstructive and trauma surgery of the foot and ankle as well as diabetic limb salvage. Thanks to the invisible stitch technique, Dr. Melendez can perform treatment with minimal scarring.
