As a child, Dr. Michelle Detweiler had a series of foot problems and was assisted by the help of a podiatrist in Philadelphia. While in college at Florida International University, Keller was injured playing intramural softball and met a podiatrist who treated him several times. He remembered the visit for a long time, and after working as a biomedical scientist, Keller decided to pursue his goal to become a podiatrist.
Yet, Keller still maintains a passion for sports medicine and for treating trauma injuries to the lower extremities, he says. He likes this type of podiatry because each case is a new challenge.
“To get the (athletes) back into professional shape – that’s not easy sometimes,” he says.
Sports injuries most commonly include Achilles tendonitis and ankle sprains and fractures, but Keller also treats all sorts of trauma injuries. In addition, he treats typical foot and ankle injuries that result from age, as well as performing laser treatments on varicose veins, spider veins and fungal nails.

She is passionate about giving back to her community as well as underserved communities abroad. She has volunteered with a non-profit organization, Essential Strides, and helped perform life changing surgeries on patients in Peru, without access to care.

He grew up on Long Island, New York. After obtaining a degree as a licensed Pharmacist from St. John’s University in Queens, New York, he continued his education at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. A residency at the Miami Veteran’s Administration (Miami VA Medical Center) followed, and after completion, he chose to make Miami his home.
Dr. Charlton Adler is an adjunct professor at Barry University. He is also a twice past chief of the Aventura Hospital Podiatry sub-specialty department as well as a past president of the Dade county podiatric medical association.
