Dr. Tickner received his podiatric medical degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine and completed advanced wound healing training at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Steven Quan, DPM, is a board-certified wound specialist physician serving patients at Associated Foot Specialist in Hudson Massachusetts. As a podiatry specialist, Dr. Quan has received comprehensive training in foot and ankle surgery, wound management of the lower extremity, trauma, and sports medicine.
Dr. Quan was born and raised in Massachusetts. He earned his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Worcester Polytechnic Institute before pursuing his doctorate at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Quan then completed his residency at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, where he was selected as the chief resident.

After high school, He attended Worcester State University where he earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Chemistry. Following his undergraduate degree, Dr. Georges earned his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, he then completed a three-year Podiatric Medical and Surgical Residency at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, where he received extensive training in foot and ankle surgery, sports medicine, pediatric foot care, diabetic wound care and limb salvage.

Board certified in foot and reconstructive rearfoot/ankle surgery, Aaron Shemenski, DPM, FACFAS, has successfully performed over 4,000 foot and ankle procedures. He is currently accepting new patients at Rhode Island Foot Care’s locations in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and Taunton, Massachusetts.
During his three-year advanced podiatric medicine and surgery residency at Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Dr. Shemenski successfully performed over 2,000 foot and ankle procedures. He ultimately served as the chief surgical resident and continues to be active in resident education.
In addition to general foot and ankle surgery, he also performs advanced reconstructive and limb salvage surgery. Certified in ankle arthroscopy and external fixation techniques, Dr. Shemenski recently had the opportunity to train at the Russian Ilizarov Center for Restorative Trauma, an 800-bed orthopedic hospital located in southern Siberia.
Dr. Shemenski is licensed to perform podiatric medicine and surgery in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. He has lectured on foot and ankle pathologies both nationally and internationally. His interests include the management of all foot and ankle pathology, including heel pain, bunions, and hammertoes, sports medicine, as well as diabetic foot and limb salvage with the treatment of wounds and infections. He continues to be active in education, recently receiving certification in hyperbaric oxygen therapy and completing the Master’s Course for lapiplasty bunion correction.
Dr. Shemenski is an avid pilot and enjoys golfing, skiing, and spending time with his wife and daughter. He is a supporter of The Tomorrow Fund for pediatric cancer and is a member of the SAS Lacrosse Foundation.
Brian Pontarelli, DPM, is a board certified foot and ankle surgeon at Rhode Island Foot Care’s locations in Cumberland, North Providence, Cumberland & Johnston, Rhode Island as well as Norfolk, Massachusetts.
Dr. Pontarelli received his Bachelor of Science in biology and minor in business administration from Providence College in Rhode Island. He earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia. Afterward, he completed his residency and surgical training at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island.
He performs all aspects of podiatric medicine and surgery and has a passion for sports medicine. Dr. Pontarelli is also an avid diabetic wound care specialist. He is a founding member and staff podiatrist of a local wound care center and has helped heal many difficult wounds utilizing cutting edge technology such as hyperbaric oxygen chambers and synthesized skin derivatives.
Dr. Pontarelli became board certified and a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons in 2002. Podiatrist Lawrence Cobrin, DPM, is one of the founding partners and first president of Rhode Island Foot Care. Dr. Cobrin was the assistant residency director assisting his partner, Dr. Michael Battery, at the former Cranston General Hospital and Roger Williams Medical Center until 1996. He is currently a clinical instructor with the program.
Dr. Cobrin was also Providence VA Medical Center’s first surgical chief podiatrist from 1985-1991. He was recruited by the Brown University School of Medicine’s chief of orthopedics to teach their residents foot surgery and served as a clinical instructor in orthopedics.

Dr. Domenico earned a Bachelor of Arts with a minor in health from Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts. Brad Ciano, DPM, FACFAS, is the newest member of the Blackstone Valley Foot and Ankle family, joining in 2018. Dr. Ciano is a native Rhode Islander, growing up in North Providence.
He attended Merrimack College, graduating in 2003, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Medicine with a focus in Athletic Training. Specializing in the evaluation and rehabilitation of sports-related foot and ankle conditions, he has extensive experience utilizing custom orthotics. Dr. Ciano obtained his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree in 2011 from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He then completed his 3-year Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency at Roger Williams Medical Center, a program that emphasizes forefoot and rear foot reconstructive surgery, as well as diabetic wound care and limb salvage. There, he served as Chief Resident in his final year of training and completed over 1,500 surgical procedures.
Dr. Ciano is a board-certified foot surgeon affiliated with the American Podiatric Medical Association, the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, and is a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons
