Dr. Karina Paonessa joined the NHST team in 2020 with a holistic approach to treating her patients. Dr. Paonessa earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from West Coast University following her studies in Zoology with a minor in Spanish at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her interest in physical activity and movement started at a young age when she participated in many sports, landing on soccer, cross country, and track in high school. While attending UCSB, she joined the triathlon club team, intramural soccer, and completed 6 half marathons. Dr. Shiao-Lan Li, DPT, is a doctor of physical therapy at Minimally Invasive Medical Group, which has offices in Lake Forest, Mission Viejo, and Irvine, California. He performs regular physical therapy, outpatient evaluation, and treatment for orthopedic patients with all body parts. As a physical therapist, Dr. Li does not see separate issues relating to only one body part without relation to the rest of the body. Leia Rispoli, MD, is an experienced interventional pain medicine physician who offers exceptional pain management and physiatry services to patients in and around Marina Del Rey and Newport Beach, California.
Double board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pain Management, Dr. Rispoli has a profound empathy for patients suffering severe or prolonged pain. Dr. Rispoli’s interest in the treatment of pain led her to complete an interventional pain medicine fellowship under the Weill Cornell Tri-Institute Pain Fellowship program in New York City, doing rotations at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Hospital for Special Surgery. Dr. Vishal Thakral is double board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine with a subspecialty in Musculoskeletal Sonography. Dr. Thakral specializes in musculoskeletal and orthopedic injuries related to the joints and spine.
