Dr. Matthias Wiederholz is also the founder and visionary behind Performance Pain & Sports Medicine, also known as Performance. Performance is a boutique medical practice with a focus on the treatment of acute and chronic pain. Dr. Wiederholz founded Performance in 2008 and officially opened for patient care in 2009. Dr. Wiederholz serves his patients in Houston, Texas; and Lawrenceville, New Jersey.

Dr. Wiederholz received his specialty training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas where he served as chief resident. He completed fellowship training in Interventional Pain Management and Sports Medicine in Marietta, Georgia. He holds four board certifications: Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation is his primary specialty. Dr. Suzanne Manzi, MD, is quadruple board-certified physician by the American Boards of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pain Medicine, Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and Obesity Medicine.

As co-founder of Performance Pain and Sports Medicine, with locations in Houston and League City, Texas, Dr. Manzi provides comprehensive, individualized care in interventional pain management, electrodiagnostic testing, weight management, and functional medicine, including bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. Dr. Manzi believes deeply in building trusting relationships with her patients, striving to empower them through thoughtful, personalized treatment plans that promote health and wellness

Originally from the Jersey Shore, Dr. Manzi played NCAA Division I basketball at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). She earned her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in 2005. Her postgraduate training included a residency at the Baylor College of Medicine/UT PM&R Alliance, followed by a fellowship in Interventional Spine, Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and Pain Management at Michigan State University and Lansing Orthopedics. In her earlier career in Houston, Dr. Manzi contributed to the Pain Management Center of Houston and initiated the Outpatient Interventional Pain program at TIRR Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Currently, Dr. Manzi serves as off-site faculty at the UT Health Houston McGovern Medical School, where she shares her expertise and passion for education. She also holds roles within the Harris County Medical Society (HCMS), where she served as President of the Southwest Branch in 2020, and continues as an active participant in the Central Branch. Her professional memberships include the North American Neuromodulation Society (NANS), Texas Pain Society (TPS), Obesity Medicine Association (OMA), and the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM). Dr Benny is a nationally recognized Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine Physician. He is Board-certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Sports Medicine and Pain Medicine with fellowship training in Spine and Sports Medicine. He is also involved in the research side as well as continuing to publish papers in the field. He is involved in The North American Spine Society as part of the Rehabilitation, Intervention and Medical Spine (RIMs) Society as well as being faculty for the Advanced Spinal Workshop for many years; He is also involved in Committee’s in the Spine Intervention Society (SIS) and also involved in other societies like the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

He is Fellowship Director of the first North American Spine Society accredited fellowship in Houston in Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine. Hui Kang, MD, is a board-certified pain management specialist and anesthesiologist with a contagiously positive demeanor. At Houston Pain Specialists, he compassionately creates custom treatment plans for patients in and around Houston who are managing short- and long-term pain. Throughout his career, Dr. Kang has earned awards both for building relationships with patients and for his dedication to quality care.

During his senior year at Texas A&M University, Dr. Kang earned the Faculty Achievement Award for his leadership skills and outstanding academic accomplishments. He went on to earn his medical degree in Lubbock, Texas, at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. Soon after graduating, he moved to Cleveland, Ohio, to complete his residency training and a fellowship in pain management at University Hospitals Case Medical Center, affiliated with Case Western Reserve University. There, he was doubly recognized for his excellence, named outstanding resident and then a chief fellow. 

Today, Dr. Kang is board certified in both anesthesiology and pain medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is a member of the Houston Pain Chapter of the Texas Pain Society as well as the Harris County Medical Society. During his time in Houston, he has earned the Top Doctor Houston Award for Anesthesiology and another award for consistently seeing his patients on time. 

Dr. Kang enjoys learning about new advancements in his field to bring to his patients as well as writing his own articles for medical publications. Okezie Okezie, MD, FAAPMR, is a Board-Certified Interventional Pain Specialist since 2006 with more than 18 years of experience in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He serves the Texas communities of Humble and Baytown at Interventional Sports and Pain Management Associates, a practice that provides patients with Pain solutions including the latest in alternatives to major surgery and medications. Dr. Okezie has also served as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Texas medical branch in Galveston, Texas.

A native of Huntsville, Alabama,  Dr. Okezie received his bachelor’s degree at Xavier University of Louisiana while also conducting numerous biological research projects at the Center for Neural Science at New York University and the University of Notre Dame.

With a deep interest in Biology, Dr. Okezie always knew he wanted to use his gift of science to help others. Shortly after graduation, he began attending the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine.

Before earning his Doctorate in Medicine in 2000, Dr. Okezie was awarded a research fellowship position at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, where he helped conduct clinical studies at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. That fellowship deepened Dr. Okezie’s interest in neuromusculoskeletal medicine, inspiring the young doctor to start a postgraduate residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Baylor College of Medicine/University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.

Dr. Okezie earned a subspecialty fellowship training position in Interventional Pain Management with the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston once he completed his residency. Shortly after he gained board certification in Interventional Pain Medicine and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, he was awarded the high merit of Fellow by the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2005.

As an Interventional Pain Management Specialist, Dr. Okezie focuses on providing comprehensive individualized pain management plans to increase each patient’s quality of life. Dr. Jones provides exceptional services for patients with acute pain. His focus is on treating acute pain and regional anesthesia, including pain control around the time leading up to surgery, day of surgery and the first few months following surgery. He believes procedures geared toward early rehabilitation are key. He has been practicing Pain Medicine for 15 years. Dr. Jones completed his Board-Certified Anesthesiology and Fellowship training in Acute Pain and Regional Anesthesiology at Johns Hopkins, Baltimore, MD. He regularly teaches US Guided nerve blocks and procedures to colleagues.
