Dr. Daniel Nelson, helps patients find relief from chronic pain at his practice in Kirkland, Washington.
Dr. Nelson grew up in the Puget Sound area and was an honors and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Washington. He went to medical school at the University of Southern California and completed his internship and residency in anesthesiology at USC-L.A. County Hospital Medical Center where he was elected chief resident. After residency, Dr. Nelson completed fellowship training in interventional pain medicine. He then started the Pain Management program at Desert Hospital in Palm Springs, California.
After returning to the Pacific Northwest, Dr. Nelson joined the Evergreen Hospital medical staff and founded the Pain Medicine department there, as well as establishing one of the first full-spectrum independent pain medicine clinics in the area. He is a founding member and Director-at-Large of the Washington Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. Dr. Nelson is a guest lecturer at the University of Washington pain medicine fellowship program and has been actively involved in the teaching of pain fellows, medical students, and physician assistants.
He has also served as a consultant and speaker to a variety of organizations. In his off time, Dr. Nelson enjoys hiking, biking, golfing, skiing and mountain climbing. He is active in Climb for Captives and Rescue:Freedom International, an organization working on behalf of victims of human trafficking.
You will soon be able to see Dr. Kwon at Evergreen Health. She will be joining them in January of 2025 and seeing patients out of the Kirkland and Monroe offices.
Susie Kwon, MD, is a non-surgical interventionalist serving patients in Cascade Orthopedics in Auburn and Bonney Lake, Washington. She is a double board-certified physician in pain management and physical medicine and rehabilitation. At Cascade Orthopedics, Dr. Kwon works closely with patients to help them live pain-free lives.
Dr. Kwon graduated with a Bachelor of Science in biology and a minor in spanish from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles,California. After completing her undergraduate, she went to Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., receiving her doctoral degree.
Dr. Kwon completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation in a dual campus program at New York-Presbyterian, the University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell. Afterward, she specialized with fellowship training in interventional pain management at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Dr. Kwon is also a medical illustrator and enjoys elaborating complex medical concepts through her art. She is also fluent in Korean and Spanish, allowing her to treat a diverse population.

Alongside Stephen Wheeler, PA-C, I will be transitioning my practice to Puget Sound Pain, where we will continue to provide our services at their Bonney Lake, Covington, Puyallup, and Tukwila/Renton locations.

Alan Chen, MD, MS, is a non-surgical interventionalist in the spine division at Cascade Orthopedics in Auburn and Bonney Lake, Washington. He is a double-board certified physician in pain management and physical medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Chen graduated with a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering in 1996 from Tufts University in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. In 1998, he received his master's degree in physiology from Chicago Medical School Rosalind Franklin University in North Chicago, Illinois. Two years later, he completed his doctoral degree.
Dr. Chen completed his residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at New York Medical College, St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Manhattan, New York, where he finished as Chief Resident. Afterward, he specialized further in interventional pain management at UCLA with fellowship training. He is also an accredited medical acupuncturist.
When not practicing medicine, Dr. Chen enjoys fishing, camping, golf, painting, and spending time with his wife and two sons.
