Sohyun Park, DDS, is a board-certified periodontist at Pacific Coast Periodontics, located in the Union Square area of San Francisco, California.
Dr. Park earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the State University of New York at Buffalo and then spent an additional year completing advanced education in general dentistry from Lutheran Medical Center in Albany, New York.
Afterward, Dr. Park practiced as a general dentist for three years, where she elaborated on her comprehensive dental skills. While she was working as a general dentist, she became fascinated with periodontics, so she decided to complete a three-year residency program in periodontology and dental implants at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. She also received her Master of Dental Science during her residency with a research project on bone graft for implant placements. She currently serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Periodontics Department at the University of the Pacific.
Dr. Park is very excited to serve in the San Francisco Bay Area with caring, comprehensive, evidence-based dental care. Her scope of dental care includes treating all areas in the field of periodontics, including surgical and non-surgical periodontal therapy around natural teeth, laser therapy, gum grafts, crown elongations, periodontally assisted orthodontics, implant therapy, bone, gum grafts to prepare implant therapy, and treatment of disease around existing dental implants.
She is certified with LANAP (Laser-Assisted New Attachment Procedure) for advanced laser treatment and Wilckodontics for perio-ortho treatment. Dr. Park strongly believes that dentistry is a lifetime learning process and attends many continuing education courses throughout the year, adapting newer technologies and honing her skills continuously.

Jochen P. Pechak, DDS, MSD, is a Periodontist at Perio & Implant Center of Monterey Bay and Silicon Valley, with locations in Sunnyvale and Monterey, California.
Originally from Germany, Dr. Pechak first began his path toward a career in medicine by enrolling at the University of Padova School of Medicine in Italy in 1987. He later transferred to Ludwig‑Maximilian‑University School of Medicine in Munich, Germany, where he completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1994. After graduation, he practiced dentistry for several years in Munich before being accepted into a prestigious program as one of only three international students in a three-year postdoctoral program in periodontics and implantology at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts.
Dr. Pechak received his specialty certificate in periodontics and a Master of Science in Periodontics from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, in 2000, graduating top of his class. Upon graduation, he was invited to join the full-time faculty as a clinical instructor at the dental school, and he was later invited to address the alumni of Tufts School of Dental Medicine in September 2009.
Along with his board certification in periodontics and dental implant surgery, Dr. Pechak is certified in advanced technologies utilizing plasma technology, as well as dental lasers. One of his passions is integration of virtual reality to improve the precision of dental implant placement with guided surgery which means shorter appointments and eliminates guesswork. He has also published several articles in dental journals, and lectured to many audiences around the world. Dr. Pechak’s research was also presented at a conference American Academy of Periodontology and Academy of Osseointegration.
He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, California Society of Periodontists, Academy of Osseointegration, International Congress of Oral Implantologists, American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Monterey Bay Dental Society, Mid‑Peninsula Dental Society, and Seattle Study Club.
Dr. Pechak remains at the forefront of leveraging minimally invasive utilizing state-of-the art technology in his field. He was recognized on the front cover of The Monterey County Herald in 2010 for his breakthrough technology utilizing plasma rich in growth factors (PRGF). He is also one of few board-certified periodontists using an FDA-approved laser periodontal therapy (known as LANAP laser treatment) in Monterey County.
Committed to the pursuit of higher education, Dr. Pechak is the founder and director of the Monterey Bay-Salinas Study Club, a local forum of Monterey County dental professionals that focuses on raising the level of dental care and expertise in the community. Board-certified periodontist, Dr. Jeremy Ueno, is a Bay Area native and founder and owner of Ueno Center Dental Specialists in Campbell, California. From an early age, Dr. Ueno demonstrated a passion for medicine and technology. After graduating as a biology major from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), that for technology passion was apparent as he completed his internship and, later, served as an employee in the IT department at Genentech in South San Francisco. This helped form the basis of his appreciation for the intersection of technology and medicine that continues today.
Ultimately, Dr. Ueno decided to pursue a career in dentistry, enrolling in Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. After Tufts, Dr. Ueno completed his surgical residency in periodontics at Columbia University, College of Dental Medicine in New York City, where he trained under some of the top clinicians and researchers in the world.
After his residency at Columbia, Dr. Ueno returned to the Bay Area, where he started Ueno Periodontics in Campbell. As the practice grew, Dr. Ueno decided to open the Ueno Center, where he committed to offering a wider range of dental services along with advanced technology for the ultimate patient experience.
Today, Ueno Center Dental Specialists is a busy, thriving practice with multiple surgical specialists and a phenomenal team. Nonetheless, Dr. Ueno continues to learn and grow as a clinician, taking between 200-300 hours of continuing education every year. Dr. Debra Westervelt is originally from Hemet, a small town in Southern California. In her early years of college, she found a passion in healthcare where she felt she could best impact her community and graduated with a degree in biology from La Sierra University at the top of her class. She then earned a doctorate degree at the acclaimed University of California, San Francisco.
Dr. Westervelt loves every aspect of dentistry and worked as a general dentist in the Napa area for several years. She enjoyed working closely with many specialists and collaborating in changing people’s lives. She was heavily involved in study clubs and advanced continuing education and became inspired by the specialists she had the opportunity to work with.
Fascinated with the connection between oral and systemic health and determined to further her education, Dr. Westervelt obtained her specialty certificate in periodontics from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Dr. Westervelt is passionate about helping her community by improving each patient’s overall health through ideal periodontal health. She understands the importance of comprehensive dental care and working closely with other experts in both dentistry and medicine. Her unique point of view as both a general dentist and a periodontist allows a broad understanding of her patient’s wants and needs. Lynna Bui, DDS, MPH, of Ueno Center Dental Specialists in Campbell, California, is a Bay Area native. Her interest in medicine started early, graduating with a degree in biology from the University of California, Irvine, before earning a Doctor of Dental Surgery at Northwestern University Dental School in Chicago, Illinois.
Dentistry came first, but it wasn’t long before Dr. Bui focused on a future in periodontology. She went back to school to obtain her specialty certificate in periodontics from the University of Pittsburgh. Then, intending to give back to her community, she earned her Master's in Public Health from the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh.
For over a decade, Dr. Bui owned a practice in Palo Alto, California, while also serving as an associate clinical professor in the periodontics department at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco, California. She co-authored articles featured in the prestigious Implant Dentistry journal and has lectured regionally and nationally on periodontology and implantology.
Dr. Bui is a member of various professional organizations, including the American Academy of Periodontology, the Academy of Osseointegration, the American Dental Association, and the California Dental Association. She is also a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, in addition to being a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
