Michael Marsh, MD, is a neurology specialist with a focus on pediatric neurology and related conditions. He is proud to be part of the Texas Pediatric Specialties and Family Sleep Center team, and of the opportunity to work with families from the Alamo Heights, Shavano Park, and Lockhill-Selma areas of San Antonio, Texas, and the greater region. 

Dr. Marsh earned a Masters degree in neuroscience at Syracuse University in New York. He went on to complete his medical degree at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada. Upon returning to the United States, Dr. Marsh completed a residency in pediatric neurology at St. Louis University in Missouri, where he remained for fellowship training. 

Among Dr. Marsh’s areas of interest are seizure disorders and migraines. He takes great comfort in treating pediatric patients who are suffering from these complex neurological issues, and in helping them achieve an improved daily quality of life.  

Dr. Marsh recognizes the role that parents and other family members play in assisting and supporting kids with neurological issues. He takes the time to educate loved ones about the challenges their family member is facing, and on how to structure family life to be as supportive as possible to all members, not just the patient. 

When he’s not working with patients, Dr. Marsh relaxes by fishing, playing soccer, and spending time with his triplet daughters. He’s a firm believer in finding a healthy work/life balance and helps his patients find their own balanced path.

Tarak Patel, MD, is a caring and compassionate pediatric pulmonologist and a vital part of the team at Texas Pediatric Specialties and Family Sleep Center. He’s deeply touched to have served so many families in the Alamo Heights, Shavano Park, and Lockhill-Selma areas of San Antonio, Texas, area.

Dr. Patel has deep roots in Texas. He began his studies at the University of Texas at Austin, earning his degree in biology. He then studied medicine at Texas Tech University School of Medicine in Lubbock. 

He finished his clinical training in El Paso, where he enjoyed expanding his Spanish language skills and narrowed his area of focus to pediatric lung disease, and asthma in particular. He went on to complete his training in pediatric medicine at the University of Texas at Houston. His dedication to continuing education is exemplified through a fellowship in pediatric pulmonology at Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine, also in Houston.  

Throughout his studies, Dr. Patel found a great deal of fulfillment in working with various charitable organizations and in volunteer roles in medical clinics. He also continues to pursue ongoing education through lectures in a wide range of pediatric conditions. That breadth of knowledge has informed and shaped his patient care in countless ways.

Kelly Smith, MD, specializes in pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine, and is a co-founder of Texas Pediatric Specialties and Family Sleep Center in the Alamo Heights, Shavano Park, and Lockhill-Selma areas of San Antonio, Texas. He has achieved fellowship designation in four areas of medical practice to include sleep medicine, pediatrics, pediatric pulmonology, and internal medicine. 

A New Braunfels native, Dr. Smith earned his undergraduate degree from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, and remained in the state to complete his medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He refined his skills and knowledge through an internship and residency at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, where he was also appointed chief resident of internal medicine and pediatrics. 

Fellowship training in pediatric pulmonology at Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston came next, followed by research and training in sleep medicine through the Texas Children’s Sleep Center in San Antonio.  

Dr. Smith went into private practice in 2007 and worked with his partners to open Texas Pediatric Specialties and Family Sleep Center in 2009. He enjoys working collaboratively to offer the highest possible level of care in pediatric pulmonology and adult/pediatric sleep medicine. 

When not working with patients, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. Flyfishing, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, and soccer keep him outdoors and active, and he tries to take advantage of all that the San Antonio area has to offer.

Shana Hansen, MD is a board-certified physician who specializes in pediatric and adult sleep. She has achieved fellowship designation in three areas of medical practice to include sleep medicine, pediatrics, and adolescent/young adult medicine.

Dr. Hansen grew up in the Midwest and headed to the Northeast for her undergraduate studies, earning her degree from the University of Maryland.   She  was commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force, completing her medical degree at the Uniformed Serves University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, graduating as valedictorian. The Air Force brought her to San Antonio where she refined her pediatric skills and knowledge through an internship and residency at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium (SAUSCHEC).

She continued her education in an adolescent medicine fellowship here in San Antonio, followed by an assignment as associate program director for the pediatric residency at the Naval Hospital Portsmouth Virginia. During this time, an interest in sleep medicine was sparked, returning Dr. Hansen to San Antonio for further education and research in sleep medicine through SAUSCHEC.

Over the next 10 years, Dr. Hansen built an esteemed career in both clinical medicine and graduate medical education at SAUSCHEC, retiring after 20 years in service to the United States Airforce in May 2023. She has thoroughly enjoyed incorporating all her specialties while providing high quality medical care and training the next generation of physicians.

When not practicing medicine, Dr. Hansen enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and her parents who also traded the cold midwestern weather for sunny San Antonio. She enjoys watching and attending all types of sporting events, reading, cycling, and exploring San Antonio and neighboring communities with family and friends.

Sarah Alba-Suarez graduated from Ut Health San Antonio Masters of Nursing in 2018 as a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner-Primary care. Sarah is happily married and has a child. Sarah has a special interest and background in early childhood development. Sarah enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys exploring new places, traveling, and outdoor adventures with her husband and toddler. 

Dr. Wilke is a Board-Certified Pediatrician practicing in San Antonio since 2001. Dr. Wilke received her undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University. She received her medical degree and post-graduate pediatric training from The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, now McGovern Medical School. She will spend time seeing patients at our Stone Oak office as well as our Bulverde office. Dr. Wilke is married and has two children. She enjoys spending time with her family outdoors in the Texas Hill Country and lakes. She enjoys gardening and her chickens. 

Elizabeth Brooks Hagee, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician with the team at Northeast Pediatric Associates PA. Dr. Hagee is proud to provide compassionate pediatric care at the practice’s Village Drive location in San Antonio, Texas.

Dr. Hagee earned her medical degree in 2001 at the James H. Quillen College of Medicine, part of East Tennessee State University, in Johnson City, Tennessee. She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and has been with the team at Northeast Pediatric Associates since 2005.

Yvonne Miranda, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician. She leads the team at Pedi Place @ Westover Hills in San Antonio, Texas, providing patients with a comfortable and nurturing atmosphere.
