Her passion for working with children took root during her college years while volunteering in the NICU/PICU at Children's Hospital of Michigan. These experiences, where she offered comfort and care to hospitalized children, solidified her commitment to pediatric healthcare and inspired her to pursue a career in this field as a PA.
Since joining our practice in 2020, Sydney has made it her mission to create a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable environment where children can receive high-quality medical care with confidence and ease.

After attending Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Dr. Sylwestrzak completed her residency at Children's Hospital of Michigan. She then practiced with Dr. Robert Roman until they merged with Southfield Pediatric Physicians, PC.
While she provides the full scope of pediatric care, Dr. Sylwestrzak has special expertise in obesity, ADD/ADHD, and alternative/complementary medicine. She also holds a certification in herbal medicine. Dr. Sylwestrzak works alongside parents in the care of their children and strives to provide the highest quality of services.
Dr. Sylwestrzak is married and has two grown daughters. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, crafting, and cooking. She speaks a reasonable amount of Spanish and Japanese, with more limited skills in Korean and Ojibwe.
Robert Roman, MD, is a pediatrician on the team at Southfield Pediatric Physicians, PC. Dr. Roman provides compassionate care for children throughout Bingham Farms and Novi, Michigan.
Dr. Roman is a native Detroiter. After attending the University of Michigan and receiving a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, he went on to graduate from Wayne State Medical School in 1975. Dr. Roman completed three years of residency at Children’s Hospital of Michigan and is board certified in pediatrics.
Before joining Southfield Pediatric Physicians, PC, Dr. Roman practiced general pediatrics in the area for 40 years. He was the Department Chair for Pediatrics at Providence Hospital for 10 years and on staff at Beaumont Hospital. Dr. Roman has also served on four charity boards and completed 10 medical missions in Zambia, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and Vietnam. He hopes to do more in the near future.
Dr. Roman is happily married to Tammy and has three children, whom he is very proud of. When not involved in practicing medicine, he enjoys weight training, exercising, cooking at the local soup kitchen, volunteering, reading (not social media), and fishing.
