Kunal Kalra, MD, of the Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Institute, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon whose areas of expertise include sports medicine and shoulder surgery. Dr. Samuel W. Park is a board-certified orthpaedic surgeon who specializes in hip and knee arthroplasty. Dr. Park is a Harvard Fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon, and the first surgeon on the West Coast to utilize robotic technology for knee arthroplasties. The combination of Dr. Park's extensive surgical experience and innovative robotic resources ensures a higher recovery rate while minimizing post-operative infection reports. Dr. Park also serves as the Medical Director of the Joint Replacement Department at Providence Mission Hospital. Dr. Eidt is a specialist and expert in caring for patients with sports injuries including complex shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle problems. His expertise is in the arthroscopic management of sports injuries. Dr. Eidt is double board certified in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine as well as General Orthopaedic Surgery. He attended the military medical school, Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, MD, where he was elected to the national medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA).  His undergraduate degree in economics with a chemistry minor, was completed at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. As a result of 16 years of service in the U.S. Army Dr. Eidt has an extensive practice caring for both pediatric and adult patients with complex traumatic injuries.

Dr. Eidt was deployed several times through his Army career. Notably he spent a year on the 38^th parallel at the DMZ in South Korea. He was deployed in combat and assigned to the 173^rd Airborne Division at a forward operating base with the 2^nd FST (a forward surgical team) in Afghanistan, as well as assignments to hospitals in Kandahar and Bagram.  Because of his excellent care of both military and civilian casualties under combat conditions in Afghanistan, Dr. Eidt was awarded the Bronze Star. 

 Dr. Eidt is the orthopaedic consultant and team physician for St. Margaret's Episcopal School's lacrosse and football teams. He has supported Trabuco Hills High School and JSerra Catholic School as their team physician. He was a faculty member for the U.S Army’s primary care sports medicine fellowship. He has also been team physician for the U.S. Army 2nd Infantry Division wrestling tournaments as well as many other local and regional sports competitions.  Dr. Eidt came with his family to Southern California and began his practice in Mission Viejo after a 16 year Army career.

Mehul Taylor, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Valley Orthopedic Institute in Palmdale and Ridgecrest, California. In addition to treating male and female patients of all ages who have general orthopedic issues, Dr. Taylor specializes in diagnosing and treating athletic injuries and arthroscopic surgeries.

Dr. Taylor has firm roots in Southern California, having grown up in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles County and graduated from Calabasas High School in Calabasas. Dr. Taylor earned his Bachelor of Science in physiological sciences at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

There, he received advanced training in arthroscopic surgery and served as an assistant team physician for the university’s football team.

Anand Shah, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and board-certified orthopedic hand surgeon and the owner of Valley Orthopedic Institute in Palmdale and Ridgecrest, California. In addition to treating patients of all ages with general orthopedic problems, Dr. Shah specializes in hand and upper extremity trauma and reconstruction.

Opening the doors to Valley Orthopedic Institute marked a homecoming for Dr. Shah, who went to Quartz Hill High School in Lancaster, California, which is just a few minutes away from Palmdale in the Antelope Valley. 

Dr. Shah graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor of Science in physiology and neuroscience. He excelled in earning his medical degree at Chicago Medical School in North Chicago in 2002, graduating first in his class and gaining election to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.

Next came an orthopedic residency at the University of Miami, Florida, and then Dr. Shah returned to UC San Diego for a fellowship program for hand, upper extremity, and microsurgery. 

During his fellowship, Dr. Shah also contributed two chapters in a medical textbook, “Master’s Techniques in Orthopaedic Surgery – The Wrist,” one on hamate hook fractures and the other on radial styloidectomy.

Dr. Shah is affiliated with two hospitals where he also treats patients: Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster and Palmdale Regional Medical Center in Palmdale.

Dr. Jason Tani, MD, cares for patients at Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Institute, with three locations in Loma Linda, San Bernardino, and Pomona, California.

Dr. Tani was born and raised in the Aloha State of Hawaii. He attended a school for ethnic Hawaiians and then traveled to Missouri, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Biology and Education. He then worked as a flight attendant before being accepted into medical school in Hawaii.

Dr. Tani graduated in the top quarter of his class. He completed a surgical internship at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California, where he met a famous orthopedic trauma surgeon, Michael Chapman, MD, who encouraged him to pursue orthopedic training.

He trained in the West Virginia University (WVU) Orthopedic Program in Morgantown, West Virginia, providing level 1 trauma experience. After completing the program, he accepted a position in Mesa, Arizona, where he practiced for over 20 years.

Following a brief hiatus in Hawaii, Dr. Tani returned to Arizona and practiced in the small rural town of Payson. He now looks forward to living the California life.

His areas of expertise and interest include fracture care, total and partial knee replacement, carpal tunnel, trigger fingers, knee arthroscopy, hip replacement, pediatric fracture care, and amputations.

In his spare time, Dr. Tani loves to golf and traveling to wine country.
