Dr. Shatby attended Clear Lake High School in Houston, Texas. He graduated at the top of his class summa cum laude with undergraduate degrees in electrical and biomedical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and earned a place as an engineering scholar.

After nurturing a passion for medicine, Dr. Shatby earned his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. There, he received multiple awards, including Outstanding Student in Orthopedic Surgery and Outstanding Academic Achievement. Dr. Shatby completed an internship and residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where he developed an interest in trauma, sports medicine, and reconstructive orthopedics. 

His interest in ambulation pathology and gait led him to a prestigious fellowship in foot and ankle. It encompassed sports and knee disorders at Union Memorial Hospital and Johns Hopkins Bayview in Baltimore, Maryland. After completing this training, Dr. Shatby returned to The Woodlands to practice his passion – orthopedic surgery.

Dr. Shatby served as vice chairman of the Medical Board of Managers at Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands and the Orthopedic Surgery and Peer Review Committee. He was a member of the Medical Board of Managers at Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Woodlands Parkway and the Medical Executive Committee. He’s on the medical staff at St. Luke’s Community Medical Center of The Woodlands.

He uses advanced, innovative methods of nonoperative and conservative treatment. If surgical management is necessary, he offers proven, minimally invasive procedures. 

Dr. Shatby understands that education and early prevention are key components of effective healing. He has received multiple awards, including Patient’s Choice Award, Compassionate Doctor Award, and Texas Favorite Physician.

In addition to offering compassionate, quality care, Dr. Shatby provides second opinions regarding other physician recommendations. 

Dr. Shatby has authored and co-authored numerous book chapters and articles, emphasizing clinical studies and evidence-based medicine. He’s a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of the Texas Medical Association, American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS), and Montgomery County Medical Society.

Board-certified orthopedic surgeon David W. Strausser, MD, brings his expertise in spine surgery to The Woodlands Sports Medicine Centre in The Woodlands, Texas. Dr. Strausser is passionate about achieving an accurate diagnosis of patients, choosing non-surgical or minimally invasive surgeries when possible.

Born in York, Pennsylvania, Dr. Strausser received his undergraduate degree from Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, where he graduated magna cum laude. He went on to complete his Doctor of Medicine, graduating with high honors, at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where he also finished his residency in orthopedic surgery. 

Dr. Strausser underwent a fellowship in spine surgery at the Texas Back Institute in Plano, Texas. He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. 

At The Woodlands Sports Medicine Centre, Dr. Strausser treats patients of all ages, with a focus on cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine conditions. He brings his knowledge of caring for spinal disorders to all treatment plans, striving for open communication and quick recovery times.

Munir Shah, MD, is an experienced, board-certified orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine physician at The Woodlands Sports Medicine Centre in The Woodlands, Texas. Dr. Shah is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and has fellowship training in managing upper extremity and hand problems. 

Dr. Shah specializes in treating a wide array of musculoskeletal conditions, including sports injuries, fractures, arthritis, and carpal tunnel syndrome. He understands that many conditions respond well to non-surgical treatment, and physical therapy is often critical to optimizing patient results. 

Dr. Shah earned his bachelor’s degree from Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana, graduating summa cum laude. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis and induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. 

He completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. Dr. Shah spent another year in San Antonio, Texas, where he obtained specialty training in microsurgery and upper extremity surgery.

Dr. Shah is the only board-certified hand surgeon in Montgomery County and holds a Certificate of Added Qualification of the Hand (CAQH). He’s a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. Shah was named one of Houston’s Top Doctors by H Texas Magazine on multiple occasions and held the title chief of orthopedics at Memorial Hermann Hospital The Woodlands. 

He has privileges at Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Woodlands Parkway, Humble Surgical Hospital, St. Luke’s Community Medical Center of The Woodlands, and Memorial Hermann Hospital of The Woodlands.
