Born and raised in the Houston area, she earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Tulsa. Board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon Patrick Simon, MD, is proud to provide high-quality care as part of the exceptional team at Northeast Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine. The practice has locations in Live Oak and San Antonio, Texas.
After earning his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Dr. Simon completed his residency with the University of Cincinnati Department of Orthopedic Surgery. He continues to maintain active memberships with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Simons' interest in orthopedic surgery began during medical school when he was able to rotate through different areas of medicine. He was on an emergency medicine rotation when he observed the orthopedic surgeons take care of trauma patients with serious injuries. From that moment, he decided to pursue a career in orthopaedics.
At Northeast Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, Dr. Simon enjoys the ability to improve the lives of patients with injuries or chronic pain. A patient with painful arthritis in the knee can often return to a normal, pain-free life after knee replacement surgery. Seeing happy patients come back over the years is very satisfying for Dr. Simon.
Dr. Simon finds joy in seeing patients and discussing their problems. He takes a slightly more conservative approach to patient care and is happy to be able to provide surgical and nonsurgical options for his patients. Working together with the patient, he goes through all the options before determining the best approach for each individual person. His goal is to help his patients achieve pain-free activities as much as possible. Dr. Simon identifies the things that are holding them back from accomplishing their lifestyle goals and finds either surgical or nonsurgical treatment options.

Matthew Napierala, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon. At Northeast Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in Live Oak and San Antonio, Texas, Dr. Napierala specializes in sports medicine and shoulder and elbow surgery.
Dr. Napierala graduated magna cum laude with a double bachelor's degree in biology and political science from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, in 2005. Four years later, he earned his medical doctorate at The Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, where he graduated cum laude.
From 2009 to 2014, Dr. Napierala completed his orthopaedic surgery internship and residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. His expert skill and dedication to his training earned Dr. Napierala the coveted title of administrative chief resident during the final year of his residency.
In 2019, Dr. Napierala completed a shoulder, elbow, and sports medicine fellowship at the prestigious University of Washington in Seattle. He also served as an acting instructor at the school while he finished his training.
Today, Dr. Napierala uses his specialized training to diagnose and treat a broad range of orthopaedic conditions. From frozen shoulder and elbow pain to carpal tunnel syndrome and osteoarthritis, Dr. Napierala provides effective treatment to relieve pain and restore function to the musculoskeletal system.
Dr. Napierala is a skilled surgeon who offers arthroscopic treatments to repair rotator cuff tears and other injuries. He also uses nonsurgical treatments, such as physical therapy and cortisone injections, to repair damage.
Dr. Napierala is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and currently holds medical licenses in Texas, Washington, and Nebraska. He belongs to many professional organizations.
