Don Fong, OD, has dedicated his career to advancing vision health. He currently provides expert care to patients at Don Fong OD FGI, a part the DeyeNAMICS Alliance in Sacramento, CA.
Influenced by his father and Pastor Woodward, Dr. Fong developed a strong work ethic that has driven his professional journey. He earned his Bachelor of Science in biology and chemistry from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, followed by a Bachelor of Science in physiological optics.
A pivotal experience with a family friend suffering from advanced macular degeneration inspired him to pursue optometry. In 1977, Dr. Fong graduated with his Doctor of Optometry from Salus University, formerly Pennsylvania College of Optometry, in Elkins Park. He then completed a post-doctoral residency at the Gesell Institute.
Dr. Fong holds licenses in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and California and was honored with the AM Skeffington Award in 1978. Since relocating to Sacramento in 1979, Dr. Fong has been a charter member of the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association (NORA) and has served in various leadership roles.
Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Fong is active in the community through the Capitol Lions International and the Sacramento Executive Association. He is passionate about educating others on vision-related topics, particularly regarding stroke and traumatic brain injury.
In his spare time, Dr. Fong enjoys photography, capturing the beauty of bridges, natural formations, and cityscapes, especially those of New York City.
