Dr. Khaja holds certification from the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the Cincinnati Society of Ophthalmology. In her work at Texas Eye Doctors, she provides patients with state-of-the-art treatments that utilize her extensive skills in ophthalmic disease and ocular surgery.

She’s also conducted groundbreaking research on acute maculopathy and dangling lens phacoemulsification, a new technique for phacoemulsification and lens implantation. She's also performed extensive performance analyses of various vitreoretinal instruments.

There, he served as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and trained multiple residents, surgical and medical retina fellows. He held leadership positions as the Medical Director of the Kellogg Eye Center Retina Clinic in Ann Arbor, MI and the OR Medical Director, supervising the department's three ambulatory surgery centers and numerous surgeons.

He stayed in New York City for part of his postgraduate training, completing an internship at St. Luke’s – Roosevelt Hospital Center and an ophthalmology residency at SUNY. He then relocated to Dallas to pursue a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the University of Texas (UT) Southwestern Medical Center and Parkland Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Choi holds certification from the American Board of Ophthalmology, is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and has been on the team at Retina Specialists since 2009. During his fellowship, he was also mentored by renowned ophthalmologist Dr. Mark Latina, a pioneer in medical lasers and the inventor of selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT). SLT has become one of the most effective treatments for glaucoma, and Dr. Joseph is one of the few specialists in the country to train directly under Dr. Latina.
