Originally from Oregon, Dr. Phelan graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Rochester in New York. He then returned to Oregon to earn his medical degree from Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, where he discovered his calling as an obstetrician during his first delivery.
To gain extensive experience, Dr. Phelan sought out highly reputable residency programs. He completed a year of internship at the renowned Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana, followed by a residency in OB/GYN at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. Since establishing his private practice in 1984, Ziyad Hannon, MD, FACOG, has built a reputation for cutting-edge OB/GYN health care. He welcomes patients to Lakeside Obstetrics, Gynecology & Fertility, at our state-of-the-art San Francisco location on 8th Avenue at Geary Boulevard.

He then attended UCLA School of Medicine, Los Angeles, where he obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree.
