She serves as principal investigator on a number of clinical trials and is a member of the cervical cancer committee with the Gynecologic Oncology Group. Kelly Kantartzis, MD, MS, FACOG is a board-certified female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgeon (FPMRS) and board-certified gynecologist serving the Phoenix-area community in Mesa, Arizona, at The Woman’s Center. She specializes in minimally invasive surgical approaches to prolapse and incontinence repair.
A native of Toledo, Ohio, Dr. Kantartzis moved around the country before settling down in western Pennsylvania, where she attended the Pennsylvania State University. After graduating magna cum laude with a degree in biochemistry and molecular biology in the school’s honors program, Dr. Kantartzis enrolled in medical school at The University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Kantartzis has always been interested in women’s health, and after graduating from medical school, she completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at Magee-Womens Hospital of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. During her residency, Dr. Kantartzis’ passion for minimally invasive pelvic floor surgery grew, so it came as no surprise when she was selected twice as the resident with the best laparoscopic skill set.
After her residency, Dr. Kantartzis stayed at Magee-Womens Hospital to complete a pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery fellowship, and she trained in complicated vaginal, laparoscopic, and robotic approaches to the management of pelvic floor disorders from leaders in the urogynecology field. While in fellowship, Dr. Kantartzis obtained a clinical research master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh to better serve her patients and help improve their outcomes for pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence.
Dr. Kantartzis is a clinical assistant professor for the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix, where she teaches residents and medical students.
In her free time, Dr. Kantartzis is very busy raising her two daughters with her husband, Stamatis. She enjoys fitness, being outdoors, and relaxing with her family.
