Dr. Gardner-Martin was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical School and completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Illinois Hospital. She returned to Michigan in 1998 to complete her nephrology subspecialty training at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Gardner-Martin joined Hypertension Nephrology Associates, PC in 2000 and has been dedicated to improving medical care in the Detroit metropolitan area. She served as a member and chairperson of the St. John Detroit Riverview Hospital Internal Medicine/Family Practice Quality Assurance Committee, chairperson of the Medical Care Evaluation Committee, and member of the Medical Executive Board. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her family, reading, and being involved in the PTO at her children’s school. She helps with various educational activities, including the Understanding Our Differences program, and volunteers at a local library.

About Dr. Maniya
Zak Maniya MD, FACP, is a triple board-certified in Nephrology & Hypertension, Critical Care and Internal Medicine at Consultants in Kidney Diseases, located in Hamilton, New Jersey.
Dr. Maniya founded Consultants in Kidney Diseases over 20 years ago to better serve patients with kidney diseases locally in Mercer County. He has pioneered innovations in preventive care, patient safety & quality of care.
With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Maniya is an expert in all forms of kidney diseases, including acute and chronic kidney diseases and hypertension. He is highly skilled in all modes of dialysis and kidney transplant care. He is a master at combining his vast knowledge and expertise with compassion. His philosophy is to treat the patient as a whole, not only the kidneys.
He completed his Nephrology and Critical Care training at Columbia University in New York and is one of the few triple board-certified physicians in the United States.
Dr. Maniya is a prestigious Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), a distinction reserved for physician-leaders and educators who are at the forefront of their profession and considered cutting-edge in their field.
He currently serves as Chief of Nephrology at St. Francis Medical Center and is involved in teaching medical residents. Dr. Maniya is also a leader within New Jersey and has served on the Board of NJ Health Care Quality Institute. He currently serves on the Board of St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton.
He is the father of two beautiful kids and the husband of a primary care physician. During his spare time he unwinds by going on the treadmill and reading books on philosophy, cosmology and astrophysics.
