Gershwin Blyden, MD, PhD, FCP, FACP, is a board-certified hematologist-oncologist and medical director of The Foundation for Sickle Cell Disease Research, with locations in Homestead, Orlando, Lakeland, Jacksonville, Belle Glade, Tallahassee, and Hollywood, Florida. With more than 40 years of diverse experience, Dr. Blyden is an esteemed physician in his field.
After receiving his bachelor’s degree in plant science from the Tuskegee Institute (now Tuskegee University) in Tuskegee, Alabama, in 1967, Dr. Blyden earned a PhD in pharmacology from prestigious Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1976. Just three years later, he also earned his medical doctorate cum laude from Yale University.
In 1985, Dr. Blyden completed an internal medicine internship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. That same year, he also finished his hematology/oncology and clinical pharmacology fellowship at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
After graduating and completing his training, Dr. Blyden worked as an adjunct professor for the Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in Miami Shores, Florida, an associate clinical professor of hematology and oncology at the University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, Florida, and as an associate professor of clinical pharmacy and director of the Clinical Pharmacology Research Unit at Florida A&M University’s Miami location.
Today, Dr. Blyden is a leader in the field of sickle cell treatment, case management, and research. He provides comprehensive care for chronic diseases, with a special emphasis on sickle cell anemia.
Dr. Blyden offers a variety of infusion services, school individualized education program (IEP) support, transcranial Doppler ultrasounds, and more.

Dionardo Medina Encarnacion, MD, is an Endocrinologist at Premier Endocrinology, serving patients at the St. Cloud and Kissimmee locations. Dr. Medina received his medical degree from Autonomous University of Santo Domingo. He finished his internship and Internal Medicine residency at St. Barnabas Hospital, affiliated with Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York. He finished Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism fellowship at University of Central Florida / HCA Healthcare, in Orlando, where he also served as chief endocrinology fellow.
Dr. Medina is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is also an expert in Weight Loss Medicine, board-certified by the American Board of Obesity Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Medina is Endocrine-Certified in Neck Ultrasonography (ECNU), and a Certified Clinical Densitometrist (CCD).
He is a member of several medical and endocrine societies including American Association of Clinical Endocrinologist, Endocrine Society, Obesity Medicine Association, American Thyroid Association and American College of Physicians.
Dr. Medina treat patients with complex endocrine and metabolic diseases including diabetes, thyroid diseases, obesity/weight loss, metabolic bone and calcium conditions, pituitary and adrenal diseases, along with other hormonal disorders.
Dr. Tse earned his medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. He completed his residency in Anesthesiology at Tufts University School of Medicine-St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center and a fellowship in Interventional Pain Medicine at Harvard Medical School-Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. Dr. Tse strives to educate patients about their condition and treatment options through a multidisciplinary approach which focuses on decreasing pain as well as improving functional capacity and quality of life. He enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and outdoor activities.

April Mieswinkel, NP, is a dedicated nurse practitioner who brings a wealth of experience and compassion to her role at One World Pediatrics in Longwood, Florida. Graduating from the University of Missouri-Kansas City's Master of Science Nursing program, April is a nationally certified nurse practitioner with a strong commitment to providing quality care to her patients.
April's professional journey spans over 15 years, during which she worked tirelessly in a rural family medicine clinic in Southwest Missouri. Her experience in this diverse setting equipped her with invaluable skills in caring for patients of all ages, particularly in pediatric care.
In her professional practice, April's interests lie in ADD/ADHD management, behavioral concerns in pediatric patients, and advocating for the well-being of her young patients. She is deeply committed to providing comprehensive care that addresses not only the physical but also the emotional and developmental needs of each child under her care.
Raised in Longwood, April recently returned to Central Florida with her husband Ron and their four children, Flint, Camden, Emmaline, and Buck. Family is at the center of April's life, and she cherishes the opportunity to create new memories with her loved ones through travel and exploration.
