Dr. Tavani earned his Bachelor of Science at the Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, in 1974. He then completed his internship in family medicine at Providence Hospital through Georgetown University, followed by his residency in family medicine at the University of Maryland Prince George’s Hospital Center in Cheverly. Dr. Tavani later obtained his PhD in Biophysics and Physiology at Georgetown University in 1984.

Dabo Xu, MD, is a board-certified physician in gastroenterology, hepatology, and internal medicine at the Gastro Center of Maryland, with locations in Annapolis, Columbia, Olney, Riverdale, Timonium and Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Dr. Xu treats a wide variety of conditions at the practice, including gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), celiac disease, colon cancer, liver disease, and other gastrointestinal conditions.
