Dr. Mansfield graduated from Roy High School and later earned a Bachelor of Arts in biology at the University of Utah. He then completed his M.D. at University of Utah in 1999, and fulfilled his internal medicine residency at University of Utah hospital, LDS Hospital and VA Hospital in Salt Lake City. He was named “Intern of the Year” in 2000.
Dr. Mansfield was drawn to internal medicine because he loved medical school.
“Really, everything you do in med school points you towards internal medicine,” the physician said. “I saw an opportunity to fill a need and do the things I love.”
Dr. Mansfield said Utah is an underserved market for internists. “The ideal ratio is 900 people for every one internist. Utah has 2,900 people for every internist.”
Dr. Mansfield was board certified as an internist in 2002 and began his career at Ogden’s McKay-Dee Hospital. He was lead internal medicine physician at McKay-Dee from 2009-2015. In 2012, Dr. Mansfield became one of the few Utah physicians board certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
Dr. Mansfield served an LDS mission to Hamburg, Germany, and is married with four children.
