Dr. Rivas graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in biology from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. He completed his medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, West Indies, graduating with the highest honors. Dr. Rivas returned to Florida to complete his internal medicine residency at the Florida campus of the Cleveland Clinic and was given the Chief Resident Award.
To further his training, Dr. Rivas completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at Cleveland Clinic Florida, and a subsequent fellowship in advanced transplant hepatology at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. After his training, Dr. Rivas returned to Cleveland Clinic Florida, and served as a staff gastroenterologist and transplant hepatologist in the abdominal transplantation department in 2014.
