Zachary Marwil, MD, is a highly respected and sought-after gastroenterologist on Long Island. Dr. Marwil is a partner at Gastrointestinal Specialists of Long Island (GISLI) and also serves as the managing director at the Northwell Health Endoscopy Center of Long Island. He is board-certified in both gastroenterology and internal medicine.
Dr. Marwil attended the University of Michigan as an undergraduate and earned his Doctor of Medicine from St. George’s University School of Medicine.
Dr. Marwil completed his residency in internal medicine at the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center, where he also had the honor of serving as the chief resident in the department of medicine. He continued his training as a fellow and then as chief fellow in the division of gastroenterology and hepatology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

Maria Lufrano, MD, is a specialist in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology. At her practice – ML Gastroenterology in Bronxville, New York – she treats disorders of the digestive system, including gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), colitis, functional disorders of the gut, and liver disease on a daily basis.
Dr. Lufrano grew up in Westchester County and graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism as well a minor in biology and chemistry. She then pursued a Master in Science from New York Medical College in biochemistry and molecular biology. During her post-graduate training, she focused on breast cancer research. Maria continued to be interested in medicine and research and decided to pursue a degree in medicine. In 2002 she graduated from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at North Shore University Hospital – Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Long Island in 2012.
She has remained actively involved in research throughout her career and has published several scientific papers and presented at national scientific meetings. She is double board-certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine.
