Dr. Elain Tong was born in Pasadena, CA. Her interest in medicine began at a young age, after suffering multiple ankle injuries from years of dancing classical ballet. Her injuries were successfully treated by her father (Yee-Wing Tong, MD) with NBE therapy, or Neuro-Bioenergetics treatment, a therapy he developed combining western anesthetic nerve blocks and trigger point injections with acupuncture and the principles of Chinese medicine. This allowed her to continue dancing, performing, and competing with little downtime. When she was 15, her father taught her the NBE technique to help treat his own chronic illnesses. It was these experiences that led her to pursue a career in medicine. Dr. Elain graduated from UCLA with a major in Psychobiology and a minor in Classical Civilization, and then went on to study Chinese Medicine for two years at Samra University in Los Angeles. She received her medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Mohammed Ansari is board certified in Internal medicine and completed his residency from University of Missouri, Kansas city. Dr. Ansari’s interest in Integrative and functional medicine came from various different avenues. When he was working as assistant professor of medicine at the University of Kansas, teaching medical students and residents, he used to see the same patients in the hospital not improving on standard of care treatments and wondered about other aspects that were neglected.
