Originally from Boston Massachusetts, she was educated at first at Mass General Hospital, and later at Boston College. She worked as a Registered Nurse for many years in cardiothoracic nursing as well as brain injury and spinal cord rehabilitation. She relocated to Texas in 1997 and worked at The Texas Instituted for Rehabilitation and Research (TIRR) before returning to UTMB to continue her education. Elizabeth Finsness, or “Liza”, is a board-certified physician assistant at Heights Dermatology in Dallas, TX.
She graduated from University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She competed on UGA’s NCAA Equestrian team where she was named All-American four years, obtaining a National Championship and two SEC Championship titles. She earned her Master's in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Kentucky. She graduated cum laude from St. Edwards University in Austin with a Bachelor’s in Biology in 2017.
