Melissa Kempf, MD, is a board-certified family medicine physician and urgent care specialist in San Antonio, Texas. She serves patients as a provider and the medical director of Injury and Health Urgent Care.
Dr. Kempf was born and raised in San Antonio and attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock. She remained there through medical school and spent time studying at both the Lubbock and El Paso campuses. After residency, Dr. Kempf spent three years in the United States Air Force, stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. She deployed to Turkey during this time, providing ER coverage for active duty personnel and their families.
After the Air Force, Dr. Kempf moved back to San Antonio to be closer to her family and the community she loves so dearly. She is certified through the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). Shannon Wait was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. She attended University of Akron in Ohio for her undergraduate studies where she received her Bachelor of Science (BSN) in Nursing.
She went to work at UF Health Shands Hospital and worked in the Neuro ICU while completing her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at the University of South Florida.
From there, she spent 2 years working in an Allergy and Asthma clinic, 1 year in Pain Management, and 1 year in Orthopedics/Sports Medicine. She moved to San Antonio with her husband who is in the Air Force and is stationed at Lackland AFB. They have one daughter and two dogs.
Currently she works in a busy practice doing primary care, urgent care, personal injury, workers compensation, and hormone replacement therapies.
She does minor injections such as trigger points and joint injections as well as minor procedures like toenail removals, biopsies, and suturing lacerations.
Brianna Kay, MPAS, PA-C, is a board-certified physician assistant at Heights Dermatology in New Braunfels and Gonzales and San Antonio.
She earned her Master's in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2012. After graduation, Brianna sub-specialized in medical and surgical dermatology and completed a 10-month internship with a board-certified dermatologist in New Braunfels, TX.
She earned the title of Diplomate Fellow under the Society of Dermatology PAs (SDPA). The SDPA Fellowship Program represents the standard in dermatology physician assistant education, allowing graduates to demonstrate that they have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide exceptional patient care in dermatology.
Brianna has been practicing dermatology for over nine years. She is passionate about patient education and preventative medicine, focusing on helping her patients to understand their health and skin care needs. She advocates for skin cancer prevention and takes the time to address her patient's questions and concerns.
Due to personal experiences, Brianna takes a special interest in auto-immune conditions, such as psoriasis and hidradenitis suppurativa. Whether treating complex auto-immune diseases, or more common skin conditions such as acne or eczema, she has a very thorough and proactive approach to help her patients reach their maximum quality of life!
When Brianna is not at the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her husband and teenage daughter. Growing up in a military family, she frequently moved as a child and found a love for traveling. Elizabeth Finsness, or “Liza”, is a board-certified physician assistant at Heights Dermatology in Dallas, TX.
She graduated from University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She competed on UGA’s NCAA Equestrian team where she was named All-American four years, obtaining a National Championship and two SEC Championship titles. She earned her Master's in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Kentucky. Liza began her dermatology career in south Florida where she practiced general and surgical dermatology for 2 years before moving to Texas. She has since earned the title of Diplomate Fellow as a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.
Being a native Floridian, Liza recognizes the importance of skin care and prevention of sun-related ailments. She is passionate about patient education and preventative medicine. Eva was born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico, and moved to the Rio Grande Valley with her family at age 10. She graduated cum laude from St. Edwards University in Austin with a Bachelor’s in Biology in 2017. Eva received several academic scholarships throughout her academic career and maintained a position on the Dean’s List. After college, she spent her first postgraduate year working in the Emergency department and volunteering at rural clinics in Mexico and Peru. Eva then attained her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from The University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley. She is bilingual and motivated to help the Corpus Christi community in their skin needs. Eva’s interest in helping the community and passion for overall skin care is what drove her to pursue a field in dermatology; her interest was further motivated during her clinical rotations. Andrea grew up in Round Rock, TX. She graduated Cum Laude from Texas A&M University with her Bachelor of Science in Health. She then went on to receive her Master’s of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Texas Medical Branch in 2017. Prior to completing her graduate studies, Andrea worked as a medical assistant in dermatology which motivated her to focus her sights on becoming a dermatology PA.
Prior to her arrival at Heights Dermatology, Andrea specialized in gastroenterology at UTMB in League City, TX. She has received personal training in dermatology from Dr. Alpesh Desai, DO, and Dr. Tejas Desai, DO. She practices in the areas of general, cosmetic, and surgical dermatology. Upon graduation, I practiced in neurosurgery in Tampa, FL for 2 years and am now excited to be back in the orthopedic field working for Dr. Fox and the Fox Team.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Alex, and daughter, Avery, attending church, running, cycling, swimming and watching Indiana Hoosier sports.
