Tel-A-YaYa is a holistic, collaborative family medicine practice based in New Jersey, led by doctorate-prepared board-certified family nurse practitioner Susan Rufolo, DNP, APN, FNP-BC, CEN. The practice offers comprehensive telehealth/telemedicine services to patients of all ages.

In  2025 Susan will celebrate 20 years in the profession of nursing having received her associate in science in nursing in 2005 from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.  Susan obtained her New Jersey Registered Nurse licensure in July 2005 and in August she began her nursing career working in the emergency crisis unit as well as the emergency department of a large metropolitan hospital.  In 2007, Susan added a new career aspect by taking on the role of the lead team nurse working with mentally challenged patients. That same year, Susan expanded her nursing career and goals by entering Jacksonville University’s RN-BSN program then being offered a charge nurse position in the emergency department of another major hospital in the area. In December 2010, Susan graduated from Jacksonville University with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and continued with her position as a charge nurse.  

During her nursing career, Susan has obtained and maintained certifications for Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and IV Certification as well as her national certification in emergency nursing (CEN) which she earned in March 2016.

In 2016 as well, Susan returned to school as she was accepted into Bradley University’s BSN to DNP/FNP program from which she graduated with her terminal degree in December 2020 with her Doctorate of Nursing Practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner. In February 2021 Susan passed her boards to become a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. From there, Susan worked in hospitals and urgent cares in and around New Jersey as well as taught nursing students, who respectfully referred to her as Dr. R, in both the classroom and in clinical instruction in nursing homes. It was her grandchildren who lovingly nicknamed her Dr. YaYa; thus her practice name was born - Tel-A-YaYa!

At Tel-A-YaYa, Susan provides quality primary care services to her patients, including special needs patients. She’s highly experienced, accessible, easygoing, and always there for her patients, making them feel understood and welcomed. The practice offers comprehensive family medicine care, including sick visits, lab services, medication management, and mental health care services. Susan is a fully licensed practitioner in New Jersey (with licensure pending in New York) who is able to treat, prescribe and develop patient care plans on an individual basis based on her patient’s needs. Jessica Benjamin is a board certified Physician Assistant. Jessica completed her B.A. at Rutgers University, double majoring in Biological Sciences and Psychology. She went on to PA school and completed her Masters in Public Health at Lock Haven University. Prior to PA school she was an EMT for 6 years and volunteered her time at her local Fire/Ambulance company.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling and hanging out with her friends and family. She enjoys watching football and baseball and is a NY Giants and NY Yankees fan.

Jessica speaks English and Gujarati. She understands Hindi and Kutchi.

About Our Practice

Thomas S. Ziering, MD, is a compassionate family practitioner serving patients in Morristown, New Jersey. Having practiced traditional family medicine for more than 30 years, Dr. Ziering has an exceptional career and the unique privilege and perspective of treating ALL patients and families regardless of gender identity, sexual identity, or medical issue. He has delivered more than 150 newborns in his career and many of the children he has cared for now bring their children and families to him.

Dr. Ziering graduated from Rutgers University Medical School in Newark and completed his residency at RWJ University Somerset Medical Center in 1990 where he was honored as the Top Resident Educator. Notably, he was part of the initial clinical trials as a clinical researcher for HIV illness during the HIV crisis in 1992. He is now one of the only private practices to treat and teach PrEP, PEP, and HIV care, as well as hormone therapy for men, women, and trans patients.

Sharing his wealth of knowledge and dedicated to education, Dr. Ziering lectures nationally and statewide and has been integral in teaching physician assistants, nurse practitioners, medical students, residents, physicians, and faculty at many of New Jersey’s various programs. Dr. Ziering was also the former Medical Director of LGBTQI Services for a private medical corporation from 2015-2017. Most recently he was a speaker at the New Jersey Academy of Family Medicine in the first lecture on LGBTQI Medicine for Physicians in Practice.

Dr. Ziering, whose patients endearingly refer to as Tom, has had the privilege of electives in England (Oncology), Miami, Florida (Dermatology), and Dallas, Texas (Cardiology). Having been in Medical Education, Medical Administration, Concierge Medicine and Corporate Medicine, Dr. Ziering has found his passion as a healer to be most effective in Private Practice. By not limiting patient visits to 5-10 minutes, he has found the most comfortable and most involved method of practice with a half-hour to one-hour visit, depending on health issues. In this manner, multiple medical issues and mental health issues can be addressed often in one visit. Furthermore, the ‘exam rooms’ are set up more like small living rooms with home furnishings, aromatherapy, sound soothers and artwork conducive to a calm and relaxed discussion. Shira Levine, RDN, is a registered dietician at Nutrition & Health Center in Elizabeth, New Jersey. As a passionate nutrition and dietetic professional, she’s determined to help her patients along their health journey, no matter their age.

With more than 28 years of experience, Shira began her career in health and wellness at New York University in New York City. Since graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition, she has worked with countless clients, creating personalized diet and nutrition plans for each. Shira also received additional training from Long Island University Post (LIU Post) in Brookville, New York.

At Nutrition & Health Center, Shira provides a comprehensive suite of diet and nutrition services. Nutrition counseling is just one aspect of care that she delivers. To design the right plan for every patient, she uses body composition, metabolic rate testing, nutrient analysis, and nutrition data. 

Using evidence-based testing ensures that Shira can provide nutrition plans targeted to each patient, for dramatic, sustainable results. At the end of the day, Shira’s primary goal is to help her patients feel as happy and healthy as possible.

Christine Limpin, MS, RDN, is a very experienced registered dietician nutritionist. At Nutrition & Health Center in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Christine helps her patients lead healthier lifestyles through advanced nutrition counseling that includes body composition testing, nutrient analysis, and other data-driven methods.

Health and wellness have always been Christine’s passions. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, in 2012. Christine later returned to school and received her Master of Science in Nutrition from the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown, New Jersey, in 2015.

In 2017, Christine completed her dietetic internship at Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Dedicated to pursuing higher education, she is currently completing her Doctorate of Clinical Nutrition at the Maryland University of Integrative Health in Laurel, Maryland.

As an experienced dietician, Christine knows how important it is to form productive, positive relationships with patients. Relationships built on trust and respect allow her to create targeted, individualized nutrition plans that are effective and objective.

Outside of her work at Nutrition & Health Center, Christine is an active member of several professional organizations. She currently holds memberships with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, the New Jersey Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and DPG: Weight Management.

Limor Tabib, RDN completed her Bachelor of Science Degree at The Pennsylvania State University. As a native New Yorker, she then went on to complete her Dietetic Internship at Long Island University with a focus on Medical Nutrition Therapy. Her passion for health, well-being, and helping others to have a quality life is what inspired Limor to pursue becoming a Registered Dietitian as a career. Limor has experience working as an RDN in the settings of rehabilitation and long-term care, social media, culinary, and private practice counseling. She takes on an individualized approach to bridge the gap between sustainable habits and health.

Her goal is to positively impact people's lives through holistic lifestyle changes for overall well-being. Her approach stems from finding the balance between a healthy relationship with food, body, and mental wellness.

Yaelle Joselit, RDN, MS in Nutrition and BS in Psychology. Focused on developing an evidence based practice complemented by extensive research experience as well as providing a mindful approach to health. She graduated from Brooklyn College (NY), had Priority Nutrition Care Distance Dietetic Internship at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and Norwegian Christian Home and Health Center. After that she worked as a Registered Dietitian at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, Jewish Renaissance Medical Center and a Researcher at Brooklyn College. She has good experience in providing medical nutrition therapy to patients undergoing bariatric surgery

Purnima Shivaram, RDN is an experienced dietician at the Nutrition & Health Center. She is a goal-oriented nutritionist focused on conducting detailed nutritional consultations and creating personalized evidence-based nutrition plans to meet the needs of her clients. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutritional Sciences from Montclair University, New Jersey. She speaks English and Hindi.

Benjamin J Scopellite MS, PA-C, is a board-certified Physician Assistant. He received his bachelor's in Biology from Seton Hall University in 2019, and Subsequently his Masters's as a Physician Assistant from Seton Hall University in 2021.

Benjamin has always had a great interest in orthopedic surgery and since graduating as a PA in 2021 he has worked in orthopedics.

During his practice he has seen patients in the emergency and inpatient hospital setting as well as the outpatient clinic; in addition to acting as a surgical first assist in a wide variety of orthopedic procedures.

Benjamin joined Orthocenter in 2022. His primary responsibilities include assisting the surgeons in the operating room and seeing patients at both Riverview Medical Center and Bayshore Medical Center. Benjamin also sees patients in the outpatient office setting.

 

 

Alexander C. Scopellite MS, PA-C, is a board-certified Physician Assistant who has been employed with the OrthoCenter since 2019. Alex received his Masters as a Physician Assistant from Seton Hall University 2019. He has always had a passion for the orthopaedic medical field which he discovered working at Bayshore Medical Center in the OR during his undergraduate and graduate education.

Alex currently functions as the managing PA-C for the practice. His primary responsibilities include assisting all the surgeons in the practice in the operating room, as well as seeing patients admitted to the hospital and in the emergency room at Riverview Medical Center and Bayshore Medical Center. Alex will perform bedside fracture and dislocation reductions, application of splints, application of wound vac systems, and intra-articular joint injections/aspirations.

Alex also occasionally sees patients in the outpatient office setting; evaluating new patients, managing patients in the post-operative period, and see patients for routine repeat injections.

Dr. Elad Tennen is a Board-Certified Sports Medicine Physician who provides expert care to patients at Orthocenter. Dr. Tennen specializes in Non-Operative Sports Medicine with experience treating Musculoskeletal injuries and systemic athletic conditions from your weekend warrior to the professional athlete.

Dr. Tennen received his undergraduate degree in Biology with minors in Mathematics and Chemistry from Ramapo College of New Jersey, graduating with Honors. Following graduation, Dr. Tennen went on to Ross University School of Medicine for his Medical Degree. After receiving his Medical Degree Dr. Tennen completed an Internal Medicine Internship at Elmhurst Hospital in affiliation with Mount Sinai Hospital.

After his Internship, Dr. Tennen completed his Residency in Family Medicine from the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Somerset NJ. After Residency, Dr. Tennen completed an ACGME Accredited Fellowship at Atlantic Sports Health in Morristown NJ. While in Fellowship, Dr. Tennen’s training involved providing sideline medical coverage for the New York Jets, Division I athletes from Seton Hall University and a private hockey league.

Dr. Tennen practices non-surgical techniques, using conservative measures to allow patients to rehabilitate from their injuries. His Primary Care background allows for treatment of Non-Orthopaedic / medical injuries in athletes ranging from concussion management/return to play, athletic fatigue, overtraining, exercised induced asthma, as well as management of athletes with other chronic medical conditions. Dr. Tennen believes in using the patient-centered approach in providing care and building a strong rapport with his patients.

Dr. Tennen is a New Jersey native who was raised nearby in Marlboro NJ. He enjoys spending time with his family, watching football and following the fitness industry. Dr. Tennen plays an active role in his community serving as the District Physician for several local school districts in Monmouth County NJ.
