Béla S. Kenessey, MD, is a board-certified family medicine physician in Danville, California since 1992. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Physicians and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and holds a medical license in the state of California.
He and his staff have been together for over 20 years, promoting dedication to a family-like environment. Passionate about changing lives, he offers personalized, custom care for each patient. Rather than using prescription meds as a band-aid on symptoms, he prefers to listen to and partner with patients to uncover the root cause of their problems and achieve optimal health.
In addition to pre-med studies, Dr. Kenessey earned his undergraduate degree in economics/business from the University of California (UCLA) and his medical degree from the University of Southern California (USC) School of Medicine, both in Los Angeles.
During medical school at USC in the late 1980s, he had a vision of a “wellness” practice to be proactive rather than reactive in prevention and healthcare. Unfortunately, a specialty residency training in “wellness and preventive medicine” did not yet exist. Hence, he chose a Family Medicine residency to become a Board Certified Family Physician.
He completed post-graduate training including an internship at LA County+USC Medical Center in Los Angeles and the USC/PIH family practice residency program at Presbyterian Inter-Community Hospital in Whittier, California. Selected by his peers as Chief Resident, his final year of training, he was additionally honored with the Resident Teacher Award by the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.
Dr. Kenessey has presented various medical lectures to both physicians and the public, and at one time, he regularly guest-hosted “Ask the Doctor,” a television program for which he won three prestigious Telly Awards for excellence in cable television. He has held various positions serving his community and fellow physicians, including on a nonprofit community school board, and on San Ramon Regional Medical Center’s Governing Board since 1998.
Interested in physician peer review, Dr. Kenessey was selected as a fellow to the Cooperative of American Physicians Board of Directors in 2007 and later elected to the Board of Directors in 2009, serving over 14,000 California doctors until 2019. He held various positions including Vice-Chairman of Finance, Vice-Chairman of Board of Directors, Practice Management Chairman, and eventually, he served as President and Chairman of the Board from 2013-2018.
Dr. Kenessey recognized sleep, diet, and nutritional supplements all played key roles in healthcare. In 2008, he created the Tri-Valley Sleep Center of Excellence with sixteen physician partners to diagnose and treat sleep disorders, which he still leads. In 2009, seeking safer, more effective options of nutritional supplements (nutraceuticals) superior to products sold in stores or on the internet, he introduced nutraceuticals into his practice. After trying many weight loss options including diet pills and various diets with some success, in 2011, he was introduced to the Ideal Protein Weight Loss program by another physician. As patient No. 1, he was so successful burning fat while preserving lean muscle, he had finally found the solution he had been searching for. In 2012, he launched Ideal Protein Weight Loss with remarkable results.
The most impactful practice addition came when a cardiologist introduced him to hormone optimization for men and women using subcutaneous bioidentical hormone pellets by BioTE. It was life-changing for the first patients (he and his wife) with better sleep, increased energy, and improvement of all the symptoms of aging. His patients would no longer suffer from symptoms of getting older, as he now had a solution. Focusing on disease prevention, improved health, and optimal aging, he added BioTE bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) using pellets in 2016.
As a certified physician mentor and trainer through BioTE Medical, the leading provider of natural hormone replacement therapy using subcutaneous pellets, he teaches certified health care providers proper use of bioidentical hormone pellets. He has performed over 5,000 pellet procedures, changing the quality of life for so many men, women, and couples.
To stay on the cutting edge, he recently completed a rigorous four-part, twelve-day, advanced course, “Mastering Protocols for Optimization of Hormone Replacement Therapy,” by the Academy of Preventive and Innovative Medicine and Worldlink Medical.
Requests from patients for additional treatments to help them look and feel better prompted the addition of radiofrequency skin tightening, laser body contouring, botanical skin care, vaginal rejuvenation, ED treatments, and peptides to expand patient’s options to optimize their health and further improve their quality of life.
Patient happiness and improved health through compassion and progressive cutting edge medical options is what fuels his passion to help patients reach their goals, improve relationships, and discover optimal health and well being.
