Roy J. Bardwell, DO, is a board-certified family medicine and pain medicine physician with over 10 years of professional experience. Dr. Clark studied biochemistry in college at the University of California San Diego. He then attended medical school at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, graduating with the highest distinction. 

Dr. Clark first became interested in diabetes-related research and clinical care in medical school. After graduating, he completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. 

Dr. Clark eventually joined the medical school faculty at Johns Hopkins. There, he conducted stem cell research with the hope of curing diabetes and was part of a team that was among the first two groups in the world to make an unlimited supply of stem cell derivatives that produce insulin in response to changing blood glucose levels. 

Dr. Clark remained in academic medicine for over a decade, doing diabetes-related research, teaching, and clinical care before founding Chicago Diabetes Experts in 2013. Jocelin Gamez, PA-C, is a certified physician assistant at Michigan Avenue Primary Care, a multispecialty practice located in The Loop of downtown Chicago, Illinois.

Jocelin earned her Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor in psychology at the University of Illinois at Chicago. During her undergraduate years, she simultaneously worked as a certified pharmacy technician and certified emergency medical technician. She then earned her Master of Science in physician assistant studies at the University of Iowa (Go Hawkeyes!). Her interests include women’s health, providing healthcare to Spanish-speaking populations, and preventative medicine.

Earning her medical degree from the University of Munich, Dr. Lengyel pursued further training in obstetrics and gynecology while in Germany before moving to the United States to work as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of California San Francisco.  After publishing multiple articles and book chapters, Dr. Lengyel returned to clinical medicine and completed her Family Medicine residency at West Suburban Medical Center.

Her treatment philosophy is to appreciate that every patient is different and in turn, to provide them with the deserved individual attention and treatment.  She believes in listening to patients, educating them about their diagnosis and treatment options, and caring about their wellbeing.  Dr. Lengyel values the inherent variety of Michigan Avenue Immediate Care’s patients who continually keep her “thinking, rethinking and learning”.
