Carla is an enthusiastic Board Certified Physician Assistant who works closely with Dr. Bashir. Carla is an Arizona native and completed her undergraduate education, locally, at the University of Arizona, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Physiology. She then earned her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. She developed a strong interest in cardiology during PA school and is enthusiastic about learning all there is in cardiac care. In her free time, Carla enjoys playing tennis, hiking, traveling, and skiing.
John Monroe, MD, founded Healthy Life Family Medicine in Goodyear, Arizona, in 2007. As a board-certified family physician, Dr. Monroe provides compassionate, patient-focused care to people of all ages. He’s committed to helping families in and around the communities west of Phoenix improve and protect their health.
Dr. Monroe completed his undergraduate studies at Arizona State University in Tempe. He went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Dr. Monroe served his family medicine residency at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, including a year as chief resident. He’s certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
Dr. Monroe diagnoses, treats, and manages a wide range of health concerns such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and back and joint pain. He also offers physical exams and acute medical care for illnesses and injuries. Dr. Ricardo La Grotta, MD is a primary care physician. He serves patients at HealthyU Clinics at our Chandler, Arizona clinic.

Having spent his formative years in diverse regions such as South America, the Caribbean, and the Pacific Northwest, Dr. La Grotta has cultivated a unique perspective. His focus on Primary Care and Urgent Care stems from a seamless blend of practical experience and scientific knowledge.
Although his family has been in the Pacific Northwest for four decades, Dr. La Grotta eagerly embraces Arizona as his new home. He looks forward to immersing himself in the beauty of the state, connecting with its vibrant communities, and indulging in the rich gastronomy that Arizona has to offer.
Veronica Rodriguez, MD, is a family medicine and primary care physician. She serves patients in Phoenix, Arizona, at the HealthyU Clinics - Phoenix 40th St. location.
Dr. Rodriguez was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She received her bachelor's degree in biology at the Universidad de Puerto Rico. She then attended medical school at Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in Mexico. After graduating from medical school, Dr. Rodriguez completed her residency training at Abrazo Central Family Medicine Residency in Phoenix, Arizona.
Dr. Rodriguez joined HealthyU Clinics in 2022. As a primary care physician, she believes in providing quality care to each of her patients by encouraging healthy choices and focusing on preventive medicine. It is her belief that healthy food, an active lifestyle, and good healthcare are critical to a long, happy, and fulfilling life.
When she’s not seeing patients, Dr. Rodriguez enjoys camping, running, drawing, and visiting new restaurants.
I have lived in the east valley since the age of 2. I graduated from Mesa High School, Arizona State University, and then went on to medical school at the A.T. Still University of Health Sciences in Kirksville, Missouri. Following my doctorate, I finished a rotating internship at Phoenix General Hospital. I then began private practice in Scottsdale where I have been since.
I am currently Board Certified in Family Practice, Clinical Lipidology, and as a Certified Principal Investigator. I am a Fellow of the National Lipid Association, and the Association of Physicians in Clinical Research.
I have a true passion for medicine, with my private practice, teaching medical students, lecturing in the cardiovascular arena, and running a clinical research site. I also have more than 12 publications in the cardiovascular arena.
I have served as Chairman of Family Practice at Honor Health Osborn and Tempe St. Lukes.
I enjoy high intensity exercise, reading and spending time with my children.
