Her family is from Chapel Hill, & accordingly she attended UNC-Chapel Hill for both undergraduate & graduate schools where she studied sports psychology & exercise physiology. After attending medical school at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, she came back to NC to complete her residency training in family medicine in Greenville at the East Carolina School of Medicine. She graduated in 1998 & then started private practice in Asheville, North Carolina.

Jose Mendez, DO, brings over twenty years of experience as a physician to his practice at Dermatology Consultants of Asheville in Woodfin, North Carolina. Dr. Mendez has over thirteen years of specialized experience in general dermatology and Mohs surgery.
Dr. Mendez earned his medical degree from Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine.
