For Javier Zelaya, MD, an experienced board-certified dermatologist and internist, health care goes beyond providing quality service. Dr. Allen N. Sapadin graduated summa cum laude from Yeshiva Univeristy and received his medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Prior to accepting a research fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center, Dr. Sapadin attended Rutgers Law School and graduated with honors. 

He returned to Mount Sinai to complete a dermatology residency and served as Chief Resident in his third year. While a resident he earned many awards, including election to the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) medical honor society. Each year this honor is bestowed upon three of six hundred residents at Mount Sinai Medical Center. In his third year of residency Dr. Sapadin was chosen by the American Academy of Dermatology to represent the United States at the annual British Association of Dermatologists meeting.

scholar from the University of Southern California. She subsequently moved to New
York to earn her medical degree at Weill Cornell Medical College. During medical school,
she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society and a recipient of the
Glasgow-Rubin Memorial Achievement Award honoring select women for academic
achievement.

Dr. Shah completed her internship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and
her dermatology residency at New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center. In her
final year, she served as Chief Resident. Following residency, she completed
subspecialty fellowship training in Mohs micrographic surgery, cutaneous oncology, and
reconstructive surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Weill Cornell
Medicine. She then became Director of Mohs Micrographic Surgery at
Northwell-Lenox Hill Hospital.

Dr. Shah's primary clinical focus is the management of skin cancers including
squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma, early-stage melanoma, and rare

Dr. Naseer earned her bachelor’s degree in neuroscience at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, where she graduated with honors in 2009. She then moved south to Washington, DC, to attend Georgetown University for her master’s degree in biophysiology. After completing it in just one year, she moved to New York to earn her medical degree through The State University of New York Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and Buffalo University, where she graduated summa cum laude. 

After finishing her formal education, Dr. Naseer continued training with a pediatric preliminary year at Cohen Children’s Medical Center/Northwell Health in Queens, New York. For her postgraduate year two, she moved back to Buffalo, New York, for a dermatology residency. She continued with another dermatology residency at Brown University Alpert School of Medicine in Providence, Rhode Island.

Dr. Penzi completed her bachelor’s degree in biology and mathematical sciences at Loyola University Maryland, where she graduated summa cum laude. She went on to finish her medical degree at New York Medical College in Valhalla, where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honors society. After graduating, Dr. Penzi completed an internal medicine preliminary internship at NYU Winthrop Hospital in Mineola, New York, before pursuing an alopecia clinical and research fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She attended New York Medical College, where she was admitted to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society for graduating in the top 10% of her medical school class. She completed her intern year at NYU Winthrop Hospital and went on to complete her dermatology residency training at the renowned Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Camp graduated with honors from Cornell University, earning a degree in biochemistry. As a medical student at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, he participated in a one-year epidemiology fellowship at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia, where he participated in viral outbreak investigations. Additionally, he is a reviewer for the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology Case Reports, a member of the Curriculum Task Force and previous member of the Public Education Committee of the American Academy of Dermatology, and a contributor to Men’s Health magazine.

Dr. Gratch and his colleagues at MDCS Dermatology: Medical Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery are currently welcoming new patients and accept most major forms of insurance.

Dr. Gratch has previously served as a Clinical Instructor of Dermatology at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He is also an active contributor in the academic world of dermatology, having overseen numerous research projects in cutaneous diseases with published papers and articles in several scientific journals and books.

Dr. Gratch is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery.

Michelle W. Ma, MD, FAAD is a Board Certified Dermatologist who completed her residency through the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in June 2017. We're very excited to have her as a full-time provider at MDCS Dermatology: Medical Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery, located in Plainview, Commack, Manhattan, Upper East Side and Hampton Bays, New York. In her professional and educational work, Dr. Ma has:

• Completed multiple postdoctoral programs
• Published articles in a variety of professional journals
• Participated in presentations across the nation

Dr. Ma graduated from Cornell University with a degree in biological sciences. She then:

• Pursed her Doctor of Medicine at the New York University School of Medicine
• Served as an intern at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts
• Began and continues her dermatology residency at MDCS

She has completed two postdoctoral fellowships. Dr. Ma was a Dermatopharmacology Fellow at the Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, in Bronx, New York. She was also a Melanoma Translational Research Fellow at the Department of Dermatology at New York University.

Dr. Ma has also been the recipient of numerous awards. These include:

• The Maurice Husik Prize for the best paper written by a dermatology resident/fellow
• The Todd Nagel Research Grant Award from The Skin Cancer Foundation
• The Medicine Clerkship Award for outstanding essay in medical science
• Merrill Presidential Scholar
• The William T. Keeton Prize for academic excellence in introductory biology

Regina Yavel, MD, FACMS, FAAD is a board certified and fellowship trained Mohs Surgeon, is a graduate of Brown University and SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Dr. Yavel is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dermatology Foundation Leaders Society, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery and American College of Mohs Surgery.
